It’s been an amazing year for @zano_project! After years of hard work, the project is finally starting to gain the recognition it deserves. This is just the beginning, but as I look back over the past year, I can’t express enough how much I appreciate the incredible work our team has accomplished. It was only the spring of 2024 when we rolled out Zarcanum upgrade - a milestone we’ve been building toward for years - and the transformation since has been extraordinary. Zano has grown from being just private money to a platform poised to become the new home for countless initiatives that value privacy! This means the world to me. I’m so proud to be part of it and firmly believe this is another important step that will written in the history of blockchain tech. A huge thanks to @pavelravaga @crypto_sowle @Mr_Kwibs @Thies__29 @Gonbat03 - as well as the others who prefer to stay out of the spotlight - for the amazing progress we’ve made together! We would also like to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude to the amazing supporters who have stood by us. Your belief in the project has been a true driving force. Special thanks to @AaronRDay and @rogerkver, whose support has been invaluable. Roger, we stand with you through the unfair legal challenges you’ve faced, and we hope that the new year brings a resolution to this situation. Your influence and contributions are truly priceless, and we remain inspired by your strength as we continue this journey together. Excited for what’s coming in 2025!

I don’t expect the Zano community to react this way, but if it needs to be said: this was handled in a transparent and straightforward manner, and no one is immune to bugs. I’m sure the Zcash team is more than capable of finding the appropriate solution, whether that’s a migration to a new pool or something else. There’s absolutely no need to declare doom for a solid project, which is how people often tend to react.
No Monero folks should be looking to dunk on Zcash because of Zooko's post. He did the right thing and was honest about exploitation being undetectable. We (Monero) have had our own inflation bugs that have thankfully also been resolved, it's a natural downside to building out privacy as the default in these systems. The important things are: 1. Fixing them quickly 2. Working with stakeholders quickly 3. Being honest and transparent about them so the ecosystem as a whole can learn and improve

Tomorrow at 2 PM CET/8 AM EST I will go live with @zano_project developers @_cryptozoidberg & @crypto_sowle For those of you who don’t know, the Zano network can tokenize anything and add privacy – including BTC, which can be bridged. Definitely an interesting way to scale & add privacy.

Replying to @Vladcostea
@vladcostea had Andrew Poelstra, director of research at @Blockstream, on the show recently. This clip has him explaining the quirks of Bitcoin, with it's weird and crusty code.

dear friends, please be careful with new hacks that recently became quite active. Thanks @reubenyap for sharing his story in details, let’s hope nothing was still from you 🙏🏽
I believe the same group got to me except that instead of the legacy media, it was Cointelegraph and they managed to convince me to screenshare in the last 10 minutes of a 1 hour interview through Microsoft Teams and somehow were able to execute a run command that installed a remote access trojan. It started out with a DM from the official @Cointelegraph. Apparently their X account got hacked briefly: x.com/cointelegraph/status/1…

Thanks for speaking up
Going to prison for the rest of your life over non-violent tax offenses is absurd. The case against Roger seems very politically motivated; like with @RealRossU, there have been plenty of people and corporations who have been accused of far worse and yet faced sentences far milder than what Roger is facing. The argument that the flashlight on him is motivated by things he said (namely, his advocacy of freedom and refusal to accept legitimacy of coercive state power) seems compelling. This is worth standing against, because selective prosecution for unrelated offenses is a common way of circumventing protections like the First Amendment (or in more authoritarian countries, even more basic things like the moral prohibition against punishing people for the crimes of their family members). The US tax-by-citizenship and associated exit tax regime is extreme; the former is shared by almost no other countries in the world, and the latter is on the high end of what countries do (eg. UK only charges capital gains if you return within 5 years). If the IRS did intimidate Roger's lawyers to get privileged information, that is a bad faith move; the right to consult lawyers in confidence must be kept sacrosanct. Genuine good faith mistakes should be treated by giving the actor the opportunity to pay back taxes if needed with interest and penalties, not with prosecution. @FreeRogerVer

Agree with Ross
Roger Ver was there for me when I was down and needed help. Now Roger needs our support. No one should spend the rest of their life in prison over taxes. Let him pay the tax (if any) and be done with it. #FreeRoger

Free Roger!

If anybody understands what it means to be a victim of lawfare, it’s @realDonaldTrump, and nobody understands it better. @rogerkver is not actually guilty by the letter of the law. The exploitation of a vague tax code is weaponized to attack the crypto community. A pro-crypto president does not let this stand. Pardoning Roger Ver today would send a strong message that for the next four years, our pioneers will be supported to make America great again! 🇺🇸🗽

🔥 Ross Ulbricht is free at last! @RealRossU This moment is monumental—a testament to the power of perseverance, advocacy, and an unwavering belief in freedom. Watching the incredible movement to #FreeRoss has been profoundly inspiring. Thousands of people came together, proving that when enough voices demand justice, the impossible becomes reality. Four individuals, however, stand out as extraordinary forces behind this victory. I first met Lyn Ulbricht at @PorcFest in 2013 (or 2014), and she immediately struck me as a force of nature. Lyn has been the beating heart of this movement—a tireless advocate, the epitome of grace under fire, and, without question, the main hero of this story. Her unshakable love for her son and her steadfast determination have shown the world that love and perseverance can truly move mountains. From the beginning, Roger Ver (@rogerkver) has been a principled and outspoken advocate for Ross, embodying voluntaryism not just in words but in extraordinary action. As the largest single donor to Ross’s legal fund, Roger demonstrated the power of voluntary support and commitment to freedom. I consider Roger to be the most principled and effective advocate for voluntaryism in the world. Angela McArdle (@angela4LNCChair): Angela’s strategic brilliance and commitment to liberty were pivotal. At last year’s Libertarian Convention, I witnessed Trump approach Angela and ask what might convince Libertarians to consider his candidacy. She masterfully placed “Free Ross” at the top of the list. That single decision was a game-changer, a true masterstroke that likely made this victory possible. Angela’s leadership has been unparalleled, solidifying her place as the GOAT of LP Chairs. I know her fight is far from over.   Martha Bueno (@BuenoForMiami): Martha is an unstoppable force in the liberty movement—a warrior who has poured her heart into this cause. Her tireless work to raise awareness and mobilize support has been instrumental. Martha’s passion and dedication are unmatched, and she continues to inspire everyone around her.   But now, Roger needs our support. He is facing politically motivated attacks from the Biden administration under EO 14067—an effort to chill the crypto revolution and stifle innovation. Instead of targeting true innovation, these attacks aim to crush voluntarism and silence those who challenge the system. Having Roger voluntarily invest in and contribute to the U.S. crypto economy is 100,000x more productive than throwing him in a cage (at taxpayer expense) for non-crimes. To everyone who believed, fought, and sacrificed for this day—this victory is for you. Let this remind us that when we stand together, nothing is impossible. Let’s carry this momentum forward as we fight for freedom, justice, and a brighter future for all.   Please watch this incredible song by @JordanPageMusic as well as this video from @rogerkver from 2018 where he discusses a letter he received from Ross. @jeffreytucker @brownstoneinst @TracyAThurman @BretWeinstein @chrismartenson @HealthRanger @56Liberty_ @LPMisesCaucus @LPNational @LPNH @CarlaGericke @FreeStateNH @Rothmus @barnes_law @SallyMayweather @RealAlexJones @vladcostea  @IreneMavrakakis @LibertyLockPod @MarcDeMesel @DouglasTuman @RecTheRegime @elonmusk @TheDesertLynx @VivekGRamaswamy @ShannonJoyRadio @drdrew @RiceTVx @MarkEdge_FTL @FTL_Bonnie @FreeIanNow @FreeRogerVer @mattkim1 @Lukewearechange @wagmi_events @queentatiana @DBrozeLiveFree @JohnBLiveFree @j0j0r0 @iam4amwe

Couldn't agree more on that! that's why CryptoNote has a very minimal dependencies, relying basically on standard C library, Boost and pieces of @hashbreaker library as a very foundation of the original CryptoNote codebase
Dependency minimalism (writing software that deliberately tries to have as few dependencies as practical) is a really underrated virtue imo. Every single dependency is a risk that "something will go wrong" during someone's installation process. Installing projects with hundreds of dependencies and walking through errors can be incredibly frustrating.

shouldn't give to much power to developer's either so far i believe that coin holders should have a right to make final decisions, it's not perfect but at least have some moral justification for me
i’d be really happy if bitcoin was more technocratic and meritocratic than it is democratic why does the voice of the average cold storage hodler matter at all, when he doesn’t contribute to protocol development, doesn’t care about the mission outlined in the whitepaper, and is disconnected from the world of computer science and cryptography research? as a podcaster, i’m not happy that podcasts are so influential in manufacturing consensus (or lack thereof). the discussions on the dev mailing list should prevail over potentially trolly comments from random twitter users who might as well be ai bots or cia sockpuppets.

Love this idea! but… ..no tribalism, no price talk, no shilling?… so basically it’s a conference where everyone just…agrees? sounds like the most peaceful (and potentially quiet) event of the year! 😂 Anyway, this is a great idea, and believe @zano_project would love to be part of it
a conference about privacy, where everyone from vpn services to privacy coins gets invited to speak and hold workshops? no tribalism, no price talk, no shilling. pure tech talk, debates in good faith only. organized in romania, around halloween. anyone interested?
