In an ideal world miserable places like Ohio, Missouri, and Indiana would have <1M people each but California would have a population of 150 million

The US east of the Mississippi is so awful it should just be turned into a nature reserve and all the poor souls being subjected to it should be relocated to the western US

Given how rare large swaths of flat land are to come by on the California Coast and how dire the state is in need of housing its surprising to me that the Salinas Valley hasn't been developed more its only got 390K people!

One caveat to living here that I can think of is that water access seems difficult. Obviously there's the Salinas River but its really small and rainfall there isn't super high but that didn't stop Los Angeles and San Diego from becoming a 20 million person megacity

The really insane thing is that Miami-Dade was consistently trending *left* from 2000-2016 but then it just totally fell off a cliff seemingly out of nowhere in 2020. Serves as a reminder that trends are not permanent!
This is just so goofy. A 41 point rightward swing in 8 years? Sure man, alright. Whatever.

The other two counties of the Miami metro, Broward and Palm Beach though have not had trends nearly as inconsistent as Miami-Dade, they have been on a steady downward slope for dems for a while now.

I don't think people fully appreciate how insane the prop 50 results were in Southern California

Harris 33->Yes 49 in a county as enormous as LA is absolutely insane lmao and going from Harris 2->Yes 11 is really crazy in Orange given that it tends to be redder downballot and prop 50 did a lot worse than Harris in a lot of suburban areas.

I like how the Colorado Commission wasn't even gerrymandering for one party or another they were just drawing some bullshit just for the love of the game.

These maps feel like something a computer algorithm would spit out like genuinely

Its also funny that they tried really hard to follow municipal boundaries when Colorado municipalities look like this

Genuinely cannot think of a place with a more evil electorate. I don't think people understand that it is >20 points REDDER than Montgomery County is!

Texas has quite a few really bad suburban/exurban counties but Parker is by quite some distance the worst even out of that group! Stagnant trends, extremely red, and growing extremely fast.
