As an Athletic Director, this is your reminder to tell your coaches thank you.
In todayās world, high school coaches are so much more than people who install Xās and Oās. They prepare fields, paint lines, organize schedules, coordinate transportation, and help build programs. More importantly, they prepare young people for the real world by teaching hard work, discipline, commitment, sacrifice, and accountability.
They work to keep teams together, have difficult conversations about playing time, strive to win, and navigate parents who believe in accountability for everyone except when it impacts their own child.
Todayās coaches are teachers, mentors, leaders, and professionals. In most cases, they do all of this for very little money and a deep belief in the impact they can have on young people.
So to all of my coachesā¦.THANK YOU!!
Thank you for the countless hours, the early mornings, the late nights, and the sacrifices you make with your own families to help raise someone elseās child.
And thank you to your families for supporting your commitment to making the next generation better than the one before it.
Your impact reaches far beyond the scoreboard, and our schools and communities are better because of you.
