In Aug 2014, I picked up a “No Caller ID” call from a 19-year-old @VitalikButerin — introduced via @etmccauley — asking to speak at our @Cryptolina conference in Raleigh about the @Ethereum Project, whose public crowdsale had launched just weeks earlier. At the time, he was still writing for @BitcoinMagazine. Back then, I was mostly interested in Bitcoin and Realcoin (later Tether). But with @_moelevin’s North American #BTC Conf just wrapped in Chicago, I wanted Cryptolina to be the next stop on the circuit. Of course I said yes — and moderated a “Bitcoin 2.0” panel with Vitalik, Dan Larimer, and Shawn Wilkinson of @Storj. (See Pic) We lost a ton of money hosting it. But I’d do it all over again. What does Litecoin even do?

In a practical sense, this is how it works. 1) Tether is by far the biggest, and it's run by bitcoiners 2) Because banks rugged exchanges in the early days USDT became the other side of the book. BTCUSDT is way bigger than BTCUSD. 3) USDT being the other side of the book grows with BTC market cap, hence the incentive for Tether is to protect BTC. 4) Given this BTC powered growth trajectory, Tether will eventually become the biggest US treasury buyer. With that comes a lot of defensive power to government attack. Overall it's strengthening BTC, therefore freedom.

Haha, that reminds me, in 2013 I called a venue in Amsterdam to make sure it was rented by Moe Levin. I had never heard of him and worried his Bitcoin conference website was a scam. It turned out great event, he went on to become founder of TNABC in Miami.
