Click to see the real deal ➡️ This #PhotoOfTheWeek, we look at a mock-up of the @ATLASexperiment detector, assembled by Jan Brajer from the ATLAS Detector Operation group, in comparison with the real-size detector. These images show a model of ATLAS composed of 400 parts, a present to an ATLAS technical coordinator, who retired earlier this year after almost a decade of work on the ATLAS detector. The real deal sits on a cavern 100m below ground, one of two general-purpose detectors at the Large Hadron Collider (LHC). It investigates a wide range of #physics, from the #Higgs boson to particles that could make up #DarkMatter. Find out more about ATLAS and other #CERN experiments: home.cern/science/experiment…

The @CERN #ATLAS ITK ENDCAP is now placed on 12 vibration dampers at @_nikhef. Just before closing the insulated transport box (by mounting the 5 enormous plates by @hasenkamp) shock sensors are now being mounted on frame & ENDCAP. Transported to @desy is close by 🚀

Last Friday we visited @_nikhef, a historic cornerstone of European Internet history and a vital hub in our network. As one of the places where the Internet in Europe took its first steps, Nikhef continues to play a critical role in enabling fast, secure, and reliable connections across the continent. Thank you Nikhef on behalf of team NL-ix! #NLix #Nikhef #InternetHistory #Networking #DigitalFuture
