Grok-Imagine-Video-1.5-Preview (720p) has landed #1 in the Image-to-Video Arena!
This is a massive 52 pt improvement over Grok-Imagine-Video (720p), surpassing the best video models Seedance-2.0 and HappyHorse.
Congrats to @xAI and @elonmusk on this big achievement!

The amount of money burned on acquiring free users must have been crazy!
@grok Imagine has become too expensive to run, which is why Sora is dead. Now, with that gone and the lawsuit settled, there’s nothing to compete with OpenAI other than code.
The focus has shifted from video to code, which is far more financially effective and technically useful. Creatives simply can’t afford the same level of compute that corporations can.
@elonmusk admitting that Grok Imagine was actually a loss leader that didn’t acquire customers would mean admitting failure.
We are never getting the rate limits back, and if anything Grok Imagine will be phased out.
If they announced this, it would kill all momentum and potentially even impact the SpaceX IPO.
It’s such a shame that we had a sample of unlimited creativity, but sadly in reality it is constrained by computation.
When my sub comes up for renewal, I’m definitely going to consider my options. I’m lucky because work pays for Claude and Codex. I don’t need Grok to code. I only pay for Grok for its creative tools, so if that goes, it’s time to buy a graphics card.

Question to all Tesla owners and Starlink users.
Grok voice, imagine and chat users have been hit with a radical decrease in quality of service. And in order to restore the service, @elon is saying that we must upgrade to a plan that is 10 times the cost.
Is this practice common place with his other products?
I was just about to buy a Tesla & Starlink, but will not now. I don’t want my connection to be reduced in speed without any notice or warning and then just be told to upgrade to restore it.

Went from 100 to 1, I guess someone realised they have a great slot machine. Classic dopamine manipulation, Grok Imagine isn’t a creative tool, it’s a casino. And the house has just shown its hand.
Grok video rendering daily limits are being set to 50, 100 and 500 for Premium, Premium and Heavy respectively

I have been a supporter of @Grok and @xai it’s impressive what they have done. I bought Supergrok when it was a baby. I have used the models in Imagine and Chat and I can confirm that usage limits are way off stated amounts.
“Rate limit reached” hits different on Grok vs Claude & Codex. With the others, I can see when I am able to use compute and how much I’ve used. I have a sense of when something will take all my tokens. But with Grok I cannot.
Some days I can produce as many 720p videos as I want, others I feel like I have to choose carefully which 480p will hit the limit.
And coding! Claude is a BMW while Grok is a horse carriage.
Essentially, kind of struggling to see why I would continue my supergrok sub, never mind upgrade to heavy! It would be just more of the same reduced rate limits over time.

Like watching sunset at the beach from the most foreign seat in the cosmos, I couldn’t resist a cell phone video of Earthset. You can hear the shutter on the Nikon as @Astro_Christina is hammering away on 3-shot brackets and capturing those exceptional Earthset photos through the 400mm lens. @AstroVicGlover was in window 3 watching with @Astro_Jeremy next to him.
I could barely see the Moon through the docking hatch window but the iPhone was the perfect size to catch the view…this is uncropped, uncut with 8x zoom which is quite comparable to the view of the human eye. Enjoy.
