Learning systems that are community led and are based on both collaborative and co-operative principles are ‘all together better’ and represent the future. Centralised, competitive and commercialised systems have failed because they serve the needs of the few rather than the many

Completely agree with this...what a turnaround in a matter of a week. Surely there is yet hope that (some) politicians might learn the productive art of cooperative working so that we can mend the broken systems in this country - or am I just being naïvely over-optimistic?
I’m stunned. I really mean that. Rishi Sunak has, since his loss, transformed into an eloquent, measured, witty, gracious, sombre statesman who is truly interesting to listen to… attentively. Where was this man before? I’m asking in all seriousness.

I just had an amazing three-day trip to Estonia where I heard a lot of great stories about the power of community-led development. I was hugely impressed by some of the community-led museums that had more community involvement than mainstream museums. Additionally, I saw a volunteer emergency response unit that were faster than many ambulances, road signs that pointed towards the gifts and skills of the neighbors, and community cinemas with thousands of movies dating back to the Soviet era. I also met with hundreds of dedicated practitioners and policymakers and heard many inspiring community stories. I also had the pleasure of being hosted by the Community Development studies team at Tartu University who are amazing people with great integrity. I am looking forward to coming back again soon!

The truth is that those who are needed need the needy more than the needy need the needed. Society, however, perpetuates the opposite story because there is an entire segment of the economy that commodifies human needs. This is a form of colonization, albeit a subtle one. In my opinion, this needs to change. Instead, we should adopt our street and become community connectors. #ABCD

“At a time many of us feel overwhelmed by forces that seem too big and too far away to influence, Cormac shows us that we  have immense power. Each and every one of us has the power to change our world by simply investing ourselves – our time, our care - in the place we live. And he tells us how to do. By doing what he calls discovering, connecting and mobilizing, we can not only strengthen our communities but we can make a good life for ourselves in the process. This book is a gift of insight and agency.” -Zita Cobb Zita, is a Canadian businesswomen and social entrepreneur*. I've never felt so angry I was annoyed before when I heard news reports about the scandal but the dramatisation on ITV told the story in such a profound way that I was moved to the point of wanting to call those responsible properly to account Put things right #restorativejustice
Look what you did! Look what your anger and outrage did. How your voices were heard. Shout more! Stand up for injustice more! Be outraged more! We have a voice. We have power! Power to the people!!! THANK YOU!!! Xxx👊❤️#mrbatesvsthepostoffice @ITV @ITVX
