38 weeks pregnant and still operating! 🤰🏻 I’m so so thankful for being at an institution with such supportive residents, faculty, and administration.

Thrilled to work with @AmCollSurgeons BOG& @AmBdSurg on this. Revolutionizing support during pregnancy. ➡️ stop 24-hr/overnight call >30 wks ➡️surgeons self-determine need to cut back (don’t need bed rest to rest!) ➡️rec >6wks leave w/o vacay time (1/2) facs.org/for-medical-profess…

Surgeon math is ✨Tryin to get through 4 cases by 3pm ✨“We’re almost done” = 1 hour ✨“I have time for 1 more case” ✨I can do 3x24hour shifts in 1 week ✨Calories on-call don’t count ✨Booking meetings or Pilates post-call ✨“EBL was minimal” Yep 🤷🏻‍♀️

In medicine, we don’t say “I love you”, we say “it’s not unreasonable” and I think that’s beautiful.

For weeks, I’ve waited patiently for preliminary application data for the 2023-2024 residency application to be released by the AAMC. And today they dropped. So you know what that means. Yup, that’s right. It’s time to break it down, Winners & Losers style™️. (🧵)

On the tougher days in this job, I need to remind myself that: -the self-doubt means I have ambitious career goals -the failure means I'm taking risks and trying something new -the frustration means I care and I'm passionate about my work

Received my official approved FMLA/maternity leave package as a PGY-2/R1. 12-weeks paid at 100%. No guilt. No shaming. No extension of training. Just love and support from faculty and co-residents. THIS IS THE WAY.
