The U.S. government ran a budget deficit in May of $293 billion, well above estimates and up 32% from a year earlier. The government also paid a record $133 billion in interest, a 44% YoY jump. Annualized, that's $1.6 trillion in interest, 30% of tax receipts! Disaster awaits!

This piece should’ve emphasized that F-35 integration with other combat aircraft and AEW&C is necessary for NATO’s regional defence plans. F-35 would be flying alongside Eurofighters, Gripens and Rafales if war erupted against Russia. The problem is not specific to NORAD. The US must put interoperability requirements above its economic interests, unless its commitment to European security is a sham.
Saab's surveillance jet deal with Canada faces a U.S. stealth tech hurdle. Trump administration's refusal to share could lead to a missing link for NORAD. #cdnpoli #GlobalEye #NORAD cbc.ca/news/politics/saab-ca…

I don't blame a CEO from trying to maximize shareholder return, but @cenovus seems to make headlines about this more than his peers.
It's notable that @cenovus doesn't quantify the impact of the insidious industrial carbon tax at all in their corporate presentation, their MD&A, or their annual or quarterly reports. Guess it must not be material?

Don't get me started on aluminum, the dumbest tariff in the history of dumb US tariffs, because US manufacturing is flummoxed without Canadian primary aluminum.

Key to remember: Declining to renew the USMCA by July 1 does not end the deal. It remains in force for at least 10 years, it just enters a period of annual reviews. Trump *could* still move to withdraw from the deal, but that's not what he said today bloomberg.com/news/articles/…

Ukraine isn't testing the SKYNEX air defense system anymore. It's using it - and the results are rewriting Europe's defense orders. All four SKYNEX systems pledged by Germany have been delivered and are operational. Developed by Rheinmetall, each unit combines a 35mm automated anti-aircraft cannon with radar-guided targeting and a networked battle management system - designed specifically to intercept Shahed-type drones before they reach their targets. Ukraine's Air Force called the results "impeccable." Rheinmetall is now planning to scale production to 400 systems per year by 2027 - a decision driven directly by what Ukraine proved in combat. The drone war created the demand. Ukraine created the proof of concept.

Contract out? That’s what the route can support. Three nonstop flights a day on AC is pretty good.
How much did WestJet receive in CEWS wage subsidies during the pandemic? How much did Air Canada receive in support packages? And they don’t even have an Ottawa/Halifax route anymore, they contract it out. Standing Committee on Transport- this could be your moment.

"mostly gas" is a pretty good thing. More likely to get to tidewater, not as vulnerable to replacement by renewables, a major source for rail-transportable liquids like propane, it has a better long-term outlook than oil.
Good morning to all friends that know where the 🇨🇦 Canadian 170 Billion barrels of recoverable oil is located…and yes relatively almost no oil in BC, mostly gas…🫡🪒

Althia is trying to defend a form of governance - call it Progressive Liberalism, Bleeding Heart Liberalism, whatever - and hold Carney to the standards of the Trudeau era We can like (or, in my case, significantly dislike) that brand of politics but it’s well within her rights
Althia’s approach to this PM seems a bit off tho, I dont know what it is, I sense disdain and personal dislike for the PM.

A reminder to the anti-climate change zealots. There are sound economic and political reasons for Canada to support a low carbon future.
