Word of the day is ‘recrudescence’ (17th century): the return of something terrible after a time of reprieve.

No matter which country VPN I'm running it's simply impossible to escape Temu ads. The CAC can't possibly be worth it.

My mom in '72 in then Yugoslavia had a job, a house, a bank account all in her name. It has been hard to fathom just how backwards & anachronous the US has been & still is in some aspects (eg reproductive health).

I bought a new carry-on a few weeks ago & the marketing messaging since it arrived has been relentless making me question 1/ how frequently should one buy luggage & 2/ the qualify of the piece I just got because why would I need to think about more luggage unless it breaks down.

Gisèle Pelicot walking to take the stand today, her strength echoing in every step: “It’s not for us to have shame, it’s for them,” she told the court. "I want all women who have been raped to say: Madame Pelicot did it, I can too. I don't want them to be ashamed any longer,"

An amazing PR own goal from @Intuit. The flack emails @reckless to get him to delete a (pretty mild, entirely fair) exchange with the CEO about Intuit's decades-long efforts to block free tax filing for Americans. Good for @TheVerge not to be cowed. theverge.com/2024/10/21/2427…

My mother, Sally Challen, was branded a cold-blooded killer. At last, she has justice. The fact that society is ahead of the CPS in understanding domestic violence is a damaging indictment of the criminal justice system. My comment for The Observer. theguardian.com/society/2019…
