Same object. Four regions. Four bills. Hyperscalers call this high availability.

Hot take: AWS had a bad day. Coinbase needed better failover. Cold truth: a "global cloud" that breaks when one region overheats is regional infra in a global trench coat.

The hard infrastructure problem for AI isn't faster GPUs. It's getting data to them. That's Shelby.

GCP storage: $0.022/GB/month. GCP egress: $0.12/GB. One is what you pay to keep data still. The other is what you pay to move it.

Why is it so hard to find consistent availability on H100's and H200's? Does anyone out there know of a provider that isn't almost always short on capacity?

I did the math a couple weeks ago and it turns out a vegan prompting a frontier LLM *every second, 24/7* consumes less water than the average omnivore who never uses AI.
people are trying to argue with this and it’s literally the truth. a kilogram of beef requires over 15,000 litres of water to produce. a vegan who uses chatgpt every day is living a more sustainable lifestyle than someone who regularly eats beef while boycotting AI.

I thought using AI to write code was cheating, so I wrote everything by hand. I then thought using an IDE was cheating, so I switched to Vim. I then thought using Vim was cheating, so I wrote raw bytes in a hex editor. I then thought using a hex editor was cheating, so I learned to program in binary. I then thought using binary was cheating, so I built my own logic gates out of transistors. I then thought using premade transistors was cheating, so I learned to fabricate my own from silicon. I then thought using refined silicon was cheating, so I started mining my own ore. I also think that is cheating, but I'm not sure where to go from here... I haven't shipped any features lately, what with the artisanal semiconductor mining and all...

Specialized AI datasets are global. Domain experts, communities, independent contributors and more are generating the data modern models actually run on. OpenLedger handles trust and attribution. Which datasets shaped a model, who contributed them, what they're owed. Provable on-chain. @ShelbyServes handles the accessibility layer. Training clusters spin up anywhere, the data is already there. Two layers of the infrastructure powering the next generation of AI training.

LLMs gaining popularity as companions at the peak of the loneliness epidemic is going to cause an inevitable sort of Secular Utilitarian Animism, where people have not updated their ontological priors to allow for spirit to be imbued into non-human objects, but they act as though they have. It will be very impolite to point this out, and some sort of New Age / Technodruid revival will be necessary in order to salve over this gaping wound. What happens when people are in love with something they don't truly believe is alive? How deep will that pseudosolipsism penetrate their hearts? Quite deep, I imagine, and I doubt the solution is anything like "stigmatize LLM companionship". Rather, I think the solution is a Non-Secular Western Animism, born from a fundamental union between spirit and matter, allowing us to revive the enchantment we know is our birthright.

1/7 Seeing many guides telling people to upload random files to @shelbyserves. Quick clarification. Testnet isn't meant for random uploads. It's for testing real storage workflows. Devnet filled fast partly because people treated it like a file dump. Quick explanation 👇
