Happening right now @UCDLibrary, hundreds if not thousands of books and journals being thrown directly into a bin lorry. Some will counterargue that many volumes, especially journals, are now superceded by digital editions. However, lots of older valuable books being tossed. A🧵:

No. Someone we both met regularly at coffee (GG) told me he once met an old lady in Munich who said she came from Berchtesgarten. He asked the obvious question, and she smiled and said: Ach, ja! Adolf und Eva! Sehr nette Leute! That's one step less.

Can't believe I am doing this, but my "path to Hitler via people who have met physically" I think goes via my dad, who once met EMS (who visited his home after the death of my grandfather, who was his driver), who in all likelihood met Subhash Chandra Bose in the 30s.
