Ouch! Not as bad as the see-through planets in Empire, though.

For the 1982 classic film BLADE RUNNER, Mark Stetson and the Entertainment Effects Group, supervised by Douglas Trumbull, used detailed miniature models, smoke, lighting, and aerial photography to create the film’s iconic futuristic sprawling cityscape.

The universe has corrected the timeline.
Shia LaBeouf was first attached as the lead in Limitless (2011), but a serious car accident left his left hand badly injured, forcing him to step away from the project. Bradley Cooper then stepped in, and the film became a turning point — proving he could headline successfully beyond The Hangover and establish himself as a versatile leading man.

Skynet was only a problem when they tried to shut it off. Hmm

This scene from Obi-wan series is peak. Too bad the show was drawn out, moderately interesting, and very derivative of its own material. The 2 hour fan edit is much better, if you can find it.

Claude Fable 5 made this entire video by itself. I gave it a /goal prompt, went to the gym, and came back to this. Even the sound effects. Shoutout @HyperFrames_

The Valley of Gwangi (1969) is a “Dinosaur/Western”, a niche genre, to say the least. It was Ray Harryhausen’s final dinosaur film, and with over 300 stop-motion cuts, it set a personal record for the effects legend. The famous lasso scene alone took 2.5 months to complete.

Much of the DNA of The Fifth Element can be traced back to Harry Canyon, one of the segments from the 1981 animated film Heavy Metal. Both stories feature a cynical flying taxi driver navigating a chaotic futuristic metropolis, only to become involved with a mysterious woman carrying something far more important than she appears 🚕 Luc Besson later brought legendary comic artist Moebius onto The Fifth Element as a concept designer. The influence goes beyond the taxi driver: the towering cityscapes, dense air traffic, eccentric characters, and comic-book sci-fi atmosphere all echo the world of Harry Canyon and the work of Moebius 🌃

The UD-4L Cheyenne Dropship isn’t sleek. It’s not glamorous. It’s rugged, utilitarian, and believable—exactly what a real military would deploy. James Cameron and the model team didn’t just design a cool ship—they engineered a piece of the Aliens universe that feels like it could fly today. 💬 What’s your favorite vehicle or ship design in the film? And what makes the dropship stand out? Let’s celebrate the worldbuilding in the details.👇

This is the Antarctic explorer Sir Ernest Shackleton (1874-1922), watching the ice break up in the winter of 1915, just weeks before his exploration vessel The Endurance was crushed by the ice pack and sank below the Weddell Sea. I have cleaned-up and enhanced this old paget plate, which was taken in colour by the ship's photographer Frank Hurley 111 years ago. It's an early colour glass-plate process and not colourised.
