Affirmative action was never a complete answer in the drive towards a more just society. But for generations of students who had been systematically excluded from most of America’s key institutions—it gave us the chance to show we more than deserved a seat at the table. In the wake of the Supreme Court’s recent decision, it’s time to redouble our efforts.
I wanted to share some of my thoughts on today's Supreme Court decision on affirmative action:

What an amazing story. “In Washington DC, at a Metro Station, on a cold January morning in 2007, a man with a violin played six Bach pieces for about 45 minutes. During that time, approximately 2000 people went through the station, most of them on their way to work. After about four minutes, a middle-aged man noticed that there was a musician playing. He slowed his pace and stopped for a few seconds, and then he hurried on to meet his schedule. About four minutes later, the violinist received his first dollar. A woman threw money in the hat and, without stopping, continued to walk. At six minutes, a young man leaned against the wall to listen to him, then looked at his watch and started to walk again. At ten minutes, a three-year old boy stopped, but his mother tugged him along hurriedly. The kid stopped to look at the violinist again, but the mother pushed hard and the child continued to walk, turning his head the whole time. This action was repeated by several other children, but every parent - without exception - forced their children to move on quickly. At forty-five minutes: The musician played continuously. Only six people stopped and listened for a short while. About twenty gave money but continued to walk at their normal pace. The man collected a total of $32. After one hour: He finished playing and silence took over. No one noticed and no one applauded. There was no recognition at all. No one knew this, but the violinist was Joshua Bell, one of the greatest musicians in the world. He played one of the most intricate pieces ever written, with a violin worth $3.5 million dollars. Two days before, Joshua Bell sold-out a theater in Boston where the seats averaged $100 each to sit and listen to him play the same music. This is a true story. Joshua Bell, playing incognito in the D.C. Metro Station, was organized by the Washington Post as part of a social experiment about perception, taste and people’s priorities. This experiment raised several questions: In a common-place environment, at an inappropriate hour, do we perceive beauty? If so, do we stop to appreciate it? Do we recognize talent in an unexpected context? One possible conclusion reached from this experiment could be this: If we do not have a moment to stop and listen to one of the best musicians in the world, playing some of the finest music ever written, with one of the most beautiful instruments ever made… How many other things are we missing as we rush through life?”

BREAKING: New York Times drops Monday bombshell, reveals that Trump may land a cushy plea deal because the evidence that will be used by Special Counsel Jack Smith at the trial is so top secret that it would endanger national security if it went public. But it gets even worse… The New York Times also reported that Trump is likely to threaten to reveal the top secret information at the trial as a way to “pressure” federal prosecutors to drop charges entirely. The New York Times report continued, declaring that it will be nearly impossible to give Trump a “fair trial” when the evidence against him is so classified that it cannot even be shown to a jury. The New York Times continued, revealing that legal experts say that it is “routine” for federal prosecutors who are put in this predicament to offer a “very attractive plea deal” because America’s intelligence community is so afraid of these top secret documents going public during trial. This is a red-alert, folks. We can’t let Trump get away with this… Please retweet and ❤️ if you think that traitor Trump must NEVER be offered a cushy plea deal — and consider investing in Tribel, a “woke” new Twitter competitor that is currently doing a round of equity crowdfunding and just blew past $1.6 million raised from 4,000 of its users. If you want to own a small piece of what is quickly becoming the “next big thing” in social media, here is the link to do so, wefunder.com/Tribel. You can invest as little as $100 — or as much as you’d like. Here’s the link to download the new Tribel app that Elon Musk is so afraid of: tribel.app.link/okwPIHYCIqb

Here's an interesting fact about the @GOP Debt Ceiling Proposal: It will gut funding for over 2,000 Border Patrol agents. $640 million of security tech would not operate. Up to 200,000 pounds of narcotics could enter the US. So much for "border security being a top priority"

Thanks for sharing @PottstownNews. I've been thinking about this topic quite a bit lately. Neither technical school nor apprenticeships were ever discussed as options for me back in the late eighties and early nineties. I kinda wish it was.
For decades, employers, educators, politicians, and parents have argued that the only sure ticket to the good life in America is a college degree. But encouraging young people to pursue the trades is key to a clean-energy transition. nyer.cm/jAfb5e2

Great thread.
Older Dads of Twitter, what advice would you give to your younger self about raising a family? More kids, off grid, different discipline style, no tech, suburbs, how to spend time, whatever… Tell us young guys what’s up?

Replying to @ameliaknisely
I am looking for a job or funding to continue my investigative reporting here in WV. I want to remain here in my home state and report, especially on child welfare issues. Reach out: ameliaferrellnews@gmail.com.
