I've been meeting with @Eskom_SA management every morning for the past several weeks to ensure restoration efforts stay on track and that our residents remain the priority. Steady progress is being made. To every resident still without power since the May storms - we hear you and we apologise for the inconvenience. โœ… Restored ahead of schedule: Nature's Valley, Covie, Fisanthoek & Brackenhill ๐Ÿ”ง Work in progress Harkerville, Klein Bavaria & Buffelsnek - teams navigating stolen conductors, damaged infrastructure and mountainous terrain, in some cases carrying poles by hand. ๐Ÿ“… Estimated restoration dates: 19 June - Noordhoek (West Coast) 22 June - Keurbooms 24 June - Witzenberg (ahead of original 26 June estimate) 25 June - Garden Route remaining areas To every resident still waiting - we hear you, and we are not done.๐Ÿ’™ A heartfelt thank you to every recovery team member working under difficult conditions, day after day, to restore power to our communities. ๐Ÿ™

Where the economy grows, opportunity follows. I joined South Africaโ€™s top financial and investment leaders at #LIDAC26 today - including Deputy Minister of Finance @AshorSarupen , to engage on digital finance and what it means for investment in our province and country. And seeing the calibre of young South Africans in that room who were engaged, informed, building in this space - that was the clearest sign that this province has a real future in it.

One incredible morning in Rheenendal!๐Ÿ’™ Today we officially launched the Rheenendal Western Cape Government eCentre, in partnership with the @KnysnaMuni. For a small community, this changes everything. Residents now have access to free WiFi, job applications, CV support, digital skills training and business tools. And two young locals have been employed to manage the centre. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ”ฅ We also handed over two brand new fire trucks to the disaster management team in Knysna to strengthen emergency response for communities across the Garden Route. ๐Ÿš’ #ForYou

Yesterday was a special day for Hornlee. ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿ’™ This community now has a brand new, R48.7 million clinic. The new Hornlee Clinic means shorter queues, more privacy during consultations, better chronic and acute care - a space for dignity and wellbeing. For the residents this is healthcare that shows up for you. @MireilleWenger and I were there to mark the moment alongside community members and the healthcare workers who make it all happen every single day. ๐Ÿ’™ #ForYou #GettingItDone

Today is Global Maintenance Day and I want to recognise the people who often go unnoticed. I bumped into Kariena du Toit, Director of Engineering and Technical Support Services in our Health Department, at the launch of our new R50 million clinic in Hornlee. A new facility is only as good as the care it receives. As Kariena mentioned, maintenance starts with the cleaner spotting a small problem before it becomes a big one and ends with a team putting in overtime to protect infrastructure. To Kariena and her whole team: thank you. They are how we look after what we build. #ForYou

A proud day for us and the community of Hornlee!๐Ÿ‘ I helped to open the brand new Hornlee Clinic in Knysna. Growing communities need growing services. This facility is an investment in our ongoing infrastructure development strides; and an investmwnt in the dignity and wellbeing of the many residents who will benefit from this clinic.

WOZA WEEKEND!๐Ÿคฉ Khayelitsha brought the energy today and we were here for every moment of it! The day started right: coffee at Sikiโ€™s, then straight to Mtetoโ€™s Child Villa - a boutique villa hotel in the heart of Khayelitsha. We were welcomed with a live marimba band, and before long, I was invited to join in!๐Ÿช˜ Mtetoโ€™s Child Villa draws business travellers from Joburg, Gqeberha, even the US and itโ€™s also where young tourism and hospitality students are doing their practicals, building real skills in their own community. Letโ€™s continue to shop local, eat local, stay local! And to every entrepreneur with an idea? This is whatโ€™s possible. Start where you are. #ForYou

Thank you to every resident who came out to First Thursdays tonight!๐Ÿ’™ We had candid, sometimes tough conversations - from funding access for small businesses, to school admissions, to social development services across the province. But the moments that stay with you are ones like a father asking where he could find support for his teenage daughter, recently diagnosed with Autism, and what it means for her schooling options going forward. Thatโ€™s why open government matters. If you couldnโ€™t make it this time, I hope to see you at the next one. #FirstThursdays #ForYou

โ›”๏ธ Western Cape Cabinet Condemns Xenophobic Attacks โ›”๏ธ I, and every single member of cabinet, condemn, in the strongest possible terms, all acts of violence, intimidation, or lawlessness against foreign nationals. The xenophobic attacks were top of the agenda at todayโ€™s extended cabinet meeting where we were briefed by SAPS leadership. Mediators have been deployed, SAPS is conducting operations, and I have offered all available provincial resources to prevent further violence. South Africa is a constitutional democracy. Frustrations about immigration policy must be addressed through lawful processes, not through violence. Those responsible for criminal acts will face the full consequences of the law. ๐Ÿ‘‰Read the full statement: westerncape.gov.za/departmenโ€ฆ
