As a veterinarian I vehemently recommend against a third cat. I want to start a hotline for people to call so I can talk them out of getting a third cat.

.@NotPodium As a member of the Board of Education I wanted to share that we are currently going through the process of changing the wording of our Policy 2:230 to say ‘lectern’ instead of ‘podium.’ #continualimprovement

It seems to me that this is a nation mediated by fear—by who is permitted to feel it and who is permitted to spread it, and who gets to claim they are frightened or threatened, and who gets to define those parameters. To explain, let me tell you about the trails I run.

Non-native English Speakers, what’s a word from your language that you think is perfect that doesn’t have an English equivalent? Take us to church.

Thank you @GovPritzker and @LtGovStratton for visiting @BCSD5_BES today. Kudos to @tkceb for your leadership of our outstanding early childhood program and to Mrs. Lee and all our teachers for your dedication and care for the youngest learners in our district.
Ball Elementary’s students are off to a great start this new year. We’re providing historic levels of early childhood and K-12 funding to set up our young Illinoisans for bright futures.

The main thing I want to point out is that all of this started with awareness, and then led to conviction, and then finally led to me actually changing the things I communicated, and the way I communicated them. It was an improvement. I think that's the work of repair.

Great to see the Dept of Education alerting schools that they can use American Rescue Plan (ARP) education funds to improve indoor air quality. They give 10 tips. In this thread, I'll expand on each one. 🧵

ARP doesn't ask for much in return for ESSER$ No targets for kids No call 4 innovation No accountability That makes Fed's "meaningful consultation" requirement SO important--that districts/states get public input on plans. The only real #ARP accountability will be to community.

This is unexpected: Biden proposal includes $9 billion in new funding to address teacher shortages, for scholarships to attract new teachers to the profession, GYO programs, teacher residencies, credentialing for high-demand areas, and teacher leadership.

Great thread. This part really hit home for me: autistic kids who can speak fluidly may not be able to communicate all their intentions. Be very careful about this, as those seemingly fluid talkers often have their communication needs underestimated, and suffer as a result
