Some of the "best" lectures ever heard are distinctly ableist, how wonderful. University departments, please provide better disability and ableism training for your staff.

Let's foster an environment where everyone feels free to admit their mistakes, share vulnerabilities, and be human. We must break free of the toxic silencing of our real selves. I see great progress on Twitter, much less so in university departments.

When it comes to industry "vs" academia, I would not pay attention to any of the extreme positions. The decision for most will rest on many factors clustered somewhere in the middle ground. Reality is a lot more complicated than is sometimes suggested. Do what is best for YOU.

Overthinking: Don't overthink the process and don't worry if something isn't working for you. We are all different and we must respect that. If something is amazing for someone else and doesn't work for you, that's fine! Feel free to try and reject methods as you see fit.
