Today's #FellsWritingTip, which we post periodically, is: Take a break. Don't keep banging your head against the wall. Take a walk, take a shower, eat/drink something... your brain needs it. #WritingCommunity #fellswriting

Today's #FellsWritingTip: Train yourself to stick to your writing and other habits by having a reward. Try saving a favorite snack to only have when you write, or transfer a dollar every time you write per month to a separate account and watch the money grow! #writingcommunity

Today's #FellsWritingTip: Once you have a productive work session in a space, try not to use it for things like scrolling the Internet, to keep it wired in your brain as a place where you write. Utilize blacklisting social sites if you must. #writerslife #writingcommunity

Today's #FellsWritingTip: try setting "time spent writing" goals instead of "word count" goals. #writingcommunity #writerslife #fellswriting

Today's #FellsWritingTip is for live-pitching your work: Start w the HOOK (1-2 sentences, your twitter pitch), then expand into the BOOK (stats, comps, audience) & finish with the COOK (a few words about you & why you're the 1 to tell this story). #writingcommunity #amquerying

taking breaks is easier said than done, but it's worth it sometimes! #fellswritingtip #writingcommunity
I finally let a wip sit aside long enough that when I came back, the problems with the opening pages suddenly seemed reasonable to fix. What is this witchcraft?

#FellsWritingTip of the day: Challenge yourself to try to embody the entire piece in the first sentence. #writing #writingcommunity #fellswriting
#FellsWritingTip of the day: Try writing diary entries or letters from your character at each step of their story. Even if you don't use them in your final draft, they will help you get into your character's head. #writingcommunity #writerslife #fellswriting

#FellsWritingTip: Sometimes the best way to show a reader what's going on inside your character's head is to show the reader what's going on outside it. #writing #writingcommunity #writerslife #fellswriting

#FellsWritingTip: Don't be surprised if the story you're writing seems to magically change as you write it. Invite the magic in. #writing #writingcommunity #writerslife #fellswriting

"Most writers have certain things that they decide quite consciously, and other things they decide less consciously." -Kazuo Ishiguro #FellsWritingTip: Examine the decisions you didn't consciously make. If you made different ones, how would your #writing change? #writingcommunity

#FellsWritingTip: "Complicate your characters: never make it easy for the reader. Nobody is ever one thing. That's what makes characters compelling." -Marlon James #quotes #writing #writingcommunity #fellswriting
Try this #FellsWritingTip from Kazuo Ishiguro: "I used to think in terms of characters, how to develop their eccentricities and quirks. Then I realized that it's better to focus on their relationships instead, and then the characters develop naturally." #quotes #WritingCommunity
