in the same way that the most lindy form of education is through reading/writing language models have been more able to efficiently construct a model of reality, and also communicate it back to us for evaluation

i told you guys i only use 4.6
i am trying to work on the closest thing possible to a true "big model smell" eval which is to say: something that measures something that clever post training can't trivially gap, and is cheap topically diverse i can't test mythos for obvious reasons, but... hmm...

.@ChrisPainterYup can you guys introduce a very simple interaction eval where you take your existing long horizon eval and add in neutral interrupts by the human? then you can step this up to secret info that speeds up or actually allows model to solve things IFF it talks to human?

Short dramas have quietly scaled into a mainstream format, and most of the US still hasn't noticed. Serialized, vertical, and made for the phone. Episodes run one to two minutes, seasons run 100 to 150. In China it's already obvious. More viewing time now goes to short dramas than to long-form streaming. And AI is moving in fast: on Douyin's top 5,000 titles, close to one in five are now AI-generated, up from none four months ago. Coatue sector head @lordbartonjr on why China could be the early signal for what reaches the US next.

did robert moses join anthropic?
New Science Blog: Why has AI advanced faster in coding than in biology? To agents, bio databases are like cities built before cars—maddening to drive in because they're designed for different traffic. How do we build infrastructure agents can use? anthropic.com/research/agent…

every token that isn't interaction with the environment is an indictment of the posttraining - for math, mostly thinking - for coding, some thinking mostly reading and ide calls as you play this out, you'll see why revenue is going up temporarily until margins contract

once men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free. but that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.

Really weird to think about how if Taiwan was never demographically dominated by Han Chinese just about 200 years ago, we would consider it consider it a part of South East Asia today like the Phillippines, and not an East Asian country like China.
