i love being a color designer!! and i don't necessarily want to go into background paint, but i always feel like i need to if i want to be compensated fairly 🙃
We strive to be exact with our math. The Journey minimum for Color Design is 14.4% less than BG Paint. But the latest data from @animationguild’s 2021 wage survey shows that on *average* Color Designers are making 17.6% less.

The number of assets Color Designers handle per episode, is staggering. One reason is that a single design assignment can easily multiply into several in color. But as assignment counts increase, paychecks decrease.

My position (color design) makes less than every single other design position on animation crews. Today I painted a dozen complex FX designs that take up most of the screen throughout a massive sequence. We are just as highly skilled and invaluable, and deserve to be paid like it

100% this. Color designers still have a ridiculously low wage, some board artists arent getting the writing creds/money, production people are barely getting by, the wages are barely enough to get by living in this expensive ass city.

JUST ANNOUNCED: Disney Branded Television has greenlit #HaileysOnIt!, an animated series that follows Hailey (voiced by @auliicravalho), a teen who must overcome her fears in order to save the world. Premiering in 2023, the series also stars @MannyJacinto & @GaryAWilliams.
