Here are three versions of the ending of INFINITE POWERS. The first was the initial idea, which occurred to me while walking my dog at night; I dictated it into my phone as we walked. The second version is a later try at refinement. The third is the published version.

I think this is a good time as any to remind people that many students from India (and many other countries) with accepted papers to @NeurIPSConf wouldn't be able to present because the US Visa situation is so backed up (the next available appointments are in Mar/April 2024).

Parting gift from @prantarg who taught discrete math at #dartmouth before heading off to #DIMACS postdoc: a lovely proof (by a student, under exam conditions!) that I hadn't seen before.

The "usual" proofs being (i) count the number of ways to form a committee and a leader of that committee; (ii) expand (1 x)^n, take a derivative, substitute x=1.

It's been interesting doing simultaneous stints as PC chair for #RANDOM2022, PC member for #FOCS2022, and Secretary of CCF (which handles #CCC)... a pretty thorough look into the "back-office operations" of #TCS conferencedom.
