We have a very important βSave the Dateβ - and you are all welcome.
On the 10th May, by kind invitation of the Dean of Gloucester, and to celebrate our 4th birthday, we are holding a Special Service at @GlosCathedral to celebrate our service animals, both working and retired.
Handlers and families, owners, trainers, breeders, in fact ANYONE who has a love for our extraordinary dogs and horses who do so much for us, such as members of @AssociationRPDs and @tiredpawshmpdog - you are all welcome.
To those who support us, and the many other areas of this community, you are all welcome.
Better still, The Dean has invited the animals to be there too. Because this is for them.
More details to follow - but here is the save the date.
We will be reaching out to as many as we can, but we are so excited to celebrate our beautiful, loyal, and hardworking service animals, in whatever guise that may be.

ANNOUNCEMENT
Sadly, the lovely Big Bark weekend, due to take place this coming Saturday and Sunday at @CirencesterPark has been postponed today, due to rising temperatures at the weekend.
The decision has not been taken lightly, but is completely with the welfare of the dogs in mind - itβs simply too hot.
All tickets will be honoured for the new dates - 18th and 19th of October - and we look forward to seeing you all then.

Coty Update.
We wanted to give you an update from RPD Coty of @kent_police who thanks to you, received lifesaving spinal surgery 10 days ago.
She is getting much better. Her coordination improves by the day, and her pain is reducing slowly.
Lisa says sheβs βgetting boredβ - weβre delighted with that as it means she is getting back to her old self!
She doesnβt let Mum out of her sight, has had her staples out now, and wants to do more.
We have paid her vets fees in full - just under Β£14,000. This means we have some left over for Cotyβs rehab and physio.
This is ALL thanks to you. Your donations went to Coty, or will. No overheads or admin costs - just straight to our girl from @KPTacOps
We are all incredibly grateful, and humbled by the support and love.
Weβll update soon - but we couldnβt be more grateful. And we know Lisa and Mark feel exactly the same. π

Happy 11th Birthday Retired PD Duke!
You look a little more distinguished, the daily patrols are noticeably slower & you definitely appreciate a comfy bed and the log burner/radiator for the creaking jointsβ¦..however put you in a car & you think youβre back at work!

Through rescue & a couple of homes to being assessed & allocated as my first PD. The dog that made my dog handling dream a reality & made me look more capable than i ever was! Stubborn, steadfast but a complete goof underneath.π₯© for dinner tonight bud πΆπ

It is with a heavy heart we share the loss of serving PD Kuga 13/10/2017 - 18/03/2025
PD Kuga joined Warwickshire Dog Section in 2020 as a rehandle with PC Mark Heath who worked together as a successful team until Mark retired in 2021 & PD Kuga was re handled by Markβs wife Lucy. Lucy & PD Kuga were an operational team until present day.
PD Kugaβs last operational track in Dec 2024 saw him tracking for over 45 mins on grass & hard surface through towns & parks resulting in him locating a high risk missing person with significant injuries & extensive blood loss. #LifeSaved
Unfortunately Kuga sustained an injury to his paw during the track which required veterinary treatment & rest. He didnβt seem to be getting better so further X-rays were taken which showed the paw had healed but revealed he had severe non treatable hip dysplasia & medication couldnβt keep him comfortable & pain free. On veterinary welfare advice PD Kuga went to sleep yesterday with Mark & Lucy by his side.
βPD Kuga was a force to be reckoned with & you usually heard him before you saw him. Formidable and headstrong, he knew what he liked and if he didnβt like it he wasnβt doing it. He was brave, strong and loyal and with him by your side you knew everything was going to be ok.
Thank you for looking after me and Mark, even when you were in pain you never faltered. It was never meant to end like this, you were so loved, we are going to miss you so muchβ ππππΎ #SleepSoftlyKuga #ThankYouForYourService

The throwback of working with the big lad Xmas eve 5 yrs ago hits a bit harder this year as he was in the vets last week for an infection. All is good now & but this year I wonβt need to explain that Santa isnβt a burglarππΆ

He has settled in really wellβ¦.enjoying trips out in the π , having lots of walks & he is loving the fact he can have lots of toys with no one stealing them! ππΆπ #HappyBoy

Today has been the heartbreaking side of dog handling when your dog retires early & you have to make tough decisions.
From the 1st photo I took of him to the last β¦PD Rufus you have been a phenomenal little dog to work even locating 45k worth of evidence on his last warrant.

#FridayFeels for me as PD Jinx & I passed our Firearms Support Dog course!! Almost 5 yrs to the day that I set eyes on a photo of the 5 week old puppy that had been reserved for me. Proud of the small feisty one!
