They had a playbook. It goes back to 2019.
Susan McGovern’s brother and husband operate The Rice Group. They are one of a handful of conservative donors whose land Mr. Ford’s government removed during the #GreenbeltGrab last year, following the slipping of brown envelopes across a table at an industry event.
Premier Doug Ford appointed McGovern to the board of the Greenbelt Foundation in 2019.
The Greenbelt Foundation is described as “the only organization solely dedicated to ensuring the Greenbelt remains permanent, protected and prosperous.”
Talk about a fox in the hen house. What a feast for McGovern and her husband!
This is a playbook for dismantling public assets. And it started in 2019 - with action from the Premier. The fall guy Ryan Amato? He was only in the role since 2022. He came in to execute a strategy put in place by the Premier, make no mistake.

Jensen Huang, the founder of Nvidia, just gave a commencement speech in Taiwan.
Like Steve Jobs in 2005, he shared 3 stories — 3 pivotal decisions that led Nvidia to where it is today.
The stories are about humility, perseverance, and focus. Here they are.
I am a CHILD. I’m only 16. I go to school every day in order to learn, make friends and thrive.
Kentucky just made it illegal for me to use the bathroom in school. They are forcibly taking away my healthcare. I can no longer speak to a school counselor without (1/2)
On a personal level, my friend Selim was one of Bruce MacArthur's last victims because Toronto Police, under Saunders, refused to listen to the LGBTQ community and severely bungled the investigation. So this is a deep, painful no. thestar.com/news/gta/2023/03…

I didn't get paid today because I mistyped the routing number for my checking account. I have a slight dyslexia and displace characters ALL OF THE TIME and see them as correct.
Also: show the name of the bank.
As a Métis woman I was so moved by this one word change. It was the first time I didn’t feel sick hearing the anthem. This RIDICULOUS hate & shaming shows how much deep unlearning needs to be done. Grateful for leaders in our communities and allies like Jully #Truth#TruthTelling
Okay, but also TTC fares are up and crime is up. That is just true. The number of city councillors is down and crime is up. That is just true. The number of brands of non-alcoholic beer is up and crime is up. This is a fun game that I can play all day, and it’s still bad logic.
Councillor Brad Bradford says the city has real challenges with safety, pointing to crime stats. He points to a reduction of officers since the David Miller era. “Front-line officers and first responders are down, and crime is up — that is just true.”
Hey @ianhanomansing and @checkupcbc there are a few things I wanted to address about the recent episode on private healthcare clinics. I called in and went through screening, but unfortunately didn’t make it onto the show.

"We don't want homeless people on the TTC, so we're going to pay $1.7m/mo for 80 cops to patrol the TTC; we can't open 24/7 warm spaces to give people somewhere to go besides the TTC because we don't have enough staff" is a problem with an easy solution.
I don’t know how this isn’t a state of emergency. Two of the warming centres downtown are already full. People have nowhere to go. This system failure is incredibly cruel in -20 weather. We need more humanity in public policy right now.
In some Anishinaabe communities north of Thunder Bay they refer to white people as wemitigoozhiwag, which means latecomers. I like that a lot. I like how it centers us as the original people and seems to ask, what took you so long?
It's February 1st! Y'all know what it is on this side. Here's a few #BlackHistoryMonth tips:
1. start w/ love, humanity, & understanding
2. lead from a stance of Black joy & excellence, our story didn't start in slavery
3. ALWAYS capitalize the 'B' in Black
