To the young people behind the march, regardless of what happens tomorrow, youāve done this country proud! History will remember your efforts! Youāve driven us to a conversation that was ignored and long overdue!
To the leaders of this country, the ball is now in your court! You have a unique opportunity that many leaders wished they had, but also one many leaders blew! Leadership involves a lot of listening; LISTEN TO THE YOUNG PEOPLE AND THEIR CONCERNS! You can address them if you choose to, but you can't ignore them for long. It never ends well for those that do!
Long after most of youāre gone, these children, angry by the brazen display of ill-gotten wealth by some of you and the opportunities it has deprived them of, will live side-by-side with your own children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Some of them will marry your children, some will employ them; don't make them hate each other now for your mess! If youāre the Christians many of you publicly profess to be, view those children angry at your mess as youād view your own!
Like that Acholi proverb says, we borrowed this land (country) from the future generations of Ugandans. Itās never too late to start anew. Tomorrow is a golden opportunity!
