🔦 With just 5 days until World Head & Neck Cancer Day, we’re shining a light on one powerful truth: Head and Neck Cancers are among the most preventable and treatable types of cancer. ✨ We know the path through diagnosis and treatment can be arduous but for many, it leads to a new beginning. A new horizon. 🌄 Inspired by James Turner’s evocative poem New Horizons, we’re reminded of the wonder and possibility that life still holds after cancer. From deserts to glaciers, islands to volcanoes his words reflect the passion to keep exploring, keep dreaming, and keep living fully. 🧗💭 🫶 Your journey doesn’t end here. It transforms. And we’re here with you every step of the way. 🤎 #WorldHeadAndNeckCancerDay #NewHorizons #CancerAwareness #LifeAfterDiagnosis

This famous video filmed at the Sasquatch Music Festival 2009 is often shown in corporations, team working classes, etc. and it actually shows an interesting aspect in psychology: the role of leading with a example (even if weird) and imitation.

It’s not very usual for care workers to come first in a list. But here’s one where they do - public think they top of the list of workers who don’t get the respect they deserve….

Respect a running theme through Starmer’s speech - and it’s a powerful frame. The public think that respect has become misaligned with contribution in society and that in particular those who ultimately keep the show on the road don’t get the respect they deserve.

Tackling Minds and our volunteer coaches spent a day with a group, using fishing rods as tools to tackle mental health challenges. 🎣=💊 Our groundbreaking research which 1752 people took part in, conducted with Angling Direct and Professor Lee Smith of Anglia Ruskin University, confirms the therapeutic benefits of fishing. Spending time fishing in n Blue-Green spaces can help alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety, and potentially lower the risk of more severe mental health issues. 🎣 Individuals who engaged in angling more regularly exhibited reduced odds of experiencing: Depression (p < 0.001) Schizophrenia (p = 0.001) Suicidal thoughts (p < 0.001) Deliberate self-harm (p = 0.012) Participants who frequently participated in angling reported higher levels of mental wellbeing and fewer symptoms of depression and anxiety compared to those with lower angling frequency. These findings indicate that encouraging regular involvement in recreational angling can serve as a dual strategy for promoting relaxation, positive mental health, and increased physical activity among individuals with mental health issues.
