Thomas Hastings (@QUBBusiness) and I have published a piece on @EconObservatory today which looks at the reasons behind economic inactivity and the barriers to work people face. From qualitative evidence we find that the barriers faced are nuanced and complex.

I've come across two people this week proclaiming NI low unemployment rate. This is misleading. We have many people unavailable for work: on health waiting lists; carers; people with trauma issues; parents unable to access childcare; disabled; weak skills because of selective schooling. Better to consider employment rate.

Our @C_Fitz_ has been hacked. It was the 5G gave it away, everyone knows there is no 5G around the Loughshore! Please report/block etc.
I can’t believe this actually happened. My cousin introduced me to his coach, I invested £800, and a few hours later it turned into £20K. Big shoutout to @justt_mich that woman is a genius.

It was great to discuss education, student mobility, Brexit and lots of other things with the @CommonsNIAC in Dublin last week.
Last week we met with @ESRIDublin and @ibec_irl as part of our visit to Dublin. Our discussions on social and economic outcomes across Northern Ireland and Ireland will continue to inform our work. Thank you @BritEmbDublin
