I remember watching a video in undergrad about working at Google and I felt all the "fun" they showed their employees having was off in some way
"I spoke up only when it looked like he would become an official manager — my manager...wielding even more power over me."
Happened to me at another company. This type of experience has been the norm for me in my 15 years in the industry.
