A year ago today I had a pretty major operation. It took the surgeon and his team 10 hours to - very neatly - remove my entire large colon. To mark the occasion I have redone my website. escapecrate.co.uk/

This cottage in Shropshire has flooded 17 times in the last 20 years - its owner says awareness needs to be raised on how dangerous flooding can be.

Being a football referee is crap. From every level of your career you are abused and treated with a complete lack of respect. Most normal people pack it in because it’s just not worth it. The ones that stick it out have a certain mentality. Which, ultimately, leads to this.

I keep hearing that rugby does it better. It does. But rugby referees are treated with respect at every level. The mindset all round is in a much better place.

Spent the day in Utrecht, home of Dick Bruna. They have rebuilt his studio in the Centraal Museum and it is absolutely fabulous.
