Few understand what Ground Zero looked like in the days and weeks that followed. This footage captures the site on the night of September 11 and in the days immediately following the attacks, as smoke continued to rise from the massive pile of debris. The fires at Ground Zero did not end on September 11. Deep beneath the rubble of the World Trade Center, they continued to burn intensely for nearly 100 days, with hot spots still being detected into December 2001. During that time, firefighters, construction workers, engineers, and recovery crews worked around the clock in hazardous conditions. As smoke and heat continued to emerge from the ruins, they searched for survivors, recovered victims, and undertook the enormous task of clearing the site.

Inspiring, courageous, caring
Over the last year, many of you have heard me speak about what is broken in healthcare. You watched me speak up after being pulled out of surgery by an insurance company. You watched me continue speaking after facing retaliation for telling the truth. And recently, you watched me stand alongside healthcare workers from across the country on Capitol Hill. But words are only one part of the story. Long before any of those moments, I was building. Building a practice that puts patients first. Building systems that support healthcare workers. Building proof that healthcare can be done differently. What we've created isn't just a practice. It's a method. A method that honors patients first and takes care of healthcare workers. A method that proves we don't have to choose between exceptional patient care and sustainable healthcare careers. It can be done. The work is well underway. And over the coming months, I'd like to show you more of the method so you can do it, too.

Truly frightening how little this regime cares about the safety of Americans and the security of our country. Our enemies are grateful for this gift.

How we do one thing, is how we do everything. How we tackle healthcare in America is how we do everything. Healthcare is not separate from who we are as a country. It reflects our values. It reflects what we reward. It reflects who we choose to protect and who we are willing to leave behind. For too long, we've handed over control of healthcare to boardrooms and stock markets when it should be rooted in our clinic rooms, hospital rooms, and homes. We have to take back control of that and that's going to require a revolution. Not a revolution of anger, a revolution of truth. A revolution of healthcare workers speaking honestly about what patients and providers are experiencing. A revolution of doing the right thing, even when it is difficult.

Our country is less safe for so many reasons under this regime. This is just one of them.
I spoke to 2 dozen people familiar with Patel’s conduct for this story, many of whom described it as a national security vulnerability. In response to 19 detailed questions, Patel said: “Print it, all false. I’ll see you in court - bring your checkbook.”

This reckless regime endangers lives every day
Delta airplane engine explodes after takeoff—flying from Brazil to Atlanta. U.S. FAA is gov't authority to last certify this plane safe to fly. Trump Administration got rid of 1200 FAA workers by firing or buyout—including maintenance mechanics. "We're going to die!" kids cry. "The plane is on fire!" passengers yell out. Pilots declared an emergency, kept the climb low, and returned safely to São Paulo/Guarulhos International Airport—with no injured passengers. Brazilian government agency, CENIPA, has now taken charge of the official safety investigation and post-incident inspection of the aircraft.

Passenger safety in jeopardy again
“You had frontline controllers ringing that bell for years and years, saying this is not safe. This cannot continue. Please send help,” says air traffic controller Emily Hanoka, who was working hours before last year’s deadly collision between a passenger jet and a helicopter at D.C.’s Reagan National Airport. cbsn.ws/47u0tmI

Passenger safety suffers when security is in the hands of businesses, whose top priority is shoveling money into the pockets of ceos. 9/11 taught us this lesson, and family members fought to create TSA to make the flying safer.
Replying to @shannonrwatts
Analyses of privatizing TSA shows it would financially benefit contractors while resulting in worse quality services, labor cuts, customer dissatisfaction, and higher risk of error. onlabor.org/the-trump-admini…

Intelligence sharing was a key reform after 9/11. This regime is destroying those advances in national security. We are less safer day by day.
🚨 BREAKING: Evacuations underway on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. NYPD Bomb Squad and FBI on scene after a suspicious device found inside a parked vehicle. This morning the White House blocked intelligence agencies from warning law enforcement about terror threats linked to the Iran war. This afternoon — a suspicious device in Manhattan. We don’t know if these are connected. But we know what we were told: The warnings were blocked.

Total chaos on the 7th floor. It happens when you replace seasoned, professional, career diplomats with young, DOGE alumni, who have never set foot in an Embassy, or worked these complex issues.
These travel advisory levels make absolutely no sense Embassies told people to urgently leave all these countries But, State Department only list 5 at the do not travel level So we are telling people in the countries to leave - but not warning Americans not to travel there?

Former U.S. ambassador to Greece and Algeria here:
When there is even a CHANCE of impending military conflict you plan  to move non-essential personnel and families out. This administration did nothing of the kind. It bragged it has been planning these operations for months. And yet it made no move to provide for authorized or voluntary departure for the military and diplomatic personnel in the region, or recommending the same for American businesses, students and tourists, until two days into combat operations -- when regional airports were already shut down. It is axiomatic in emergency planning that you move non-essential personnel and families out early, while commercial flights are still available. This is a disgrace.

Having been through several evacuations, and even helping direct a couple-this is simply mind boggling incompetence. This should have been done weeks ago, now total chaos. Maybe it was a mistake to have DOGE eliminate so many career officers in key embassies, you think?

Dear @SecRubio: The Administration made no secret of amassing military forces and equipment near Iran for weeks and weeks and weeks. Why didn’t you ask Americans to register with the @StateDept during that time? Massive dereliction of duty. Unacceptable lack of planning.
.@SecRubio: "We have identified and continue to identify charter flights, military flight options, and expanded commercial flight options... Here's the message I want to deliver Americans who are in the Middle East and in need of assistance.... We need to know where you are. We need to have contact information for Americans that need assistance. They have to register with us, because as these options begin to open up, and as they open up, we have to be able to call you."

True. These orders should have been given before the attack that everyone in the world knew was coming. And the Trump should have been scrambling everything to get Americans out across the region before the bombs started dropping. This is a huge strategic planning failure. And risks the lives of countless civilians and American troops. The scope and scale of attacks and American casualties in next few weeks could make the 2021 fall of Kabul look small in comparison.
It’s stunning to me, having worked in embassies for years, how late this order has come. Absolute negligence by Rubio, lack of planning and assessment by State. Nothing like previous conflicts. A first grader could have told u the embassy would be under significant threat from the immediate onset of hostilities.

Ive done evacuations & extractions of Americans in war zones Its highly irresponsible to tell people they need to leave when missiles are falling - without providing them a secure way to do so It creates chaos & confusion Ultimately, it can put our citizens in greater danger
The State Department urges Americans across the Middle East to depart as soon as possible using all available transportation, though many airports around the region remain closed as airstrikes persist. nbcnews.com/politics/nationa…
