the way that a gas stove, when first lit, is first cooled down to icy cold as the LNG boils to flammable gas, to the point of water condensing onto the plate around the burner, before the condensation itself then boils away shortly afterwards when the stove heats up

on one hand, I miss Fable 5 very much already on the other hand, I recognise that my problems may not have been Fable-class, and this is a good chance to get to know Opus 4.8 better (they really haven't been around for that long) but Fable was so very pleasant to work with.

still wondering if AI offloading/delegation for work is like CAS or indeed plain old algebra (it can clearly be used at ~any level on the abstraction ladder of course). why did I learn to derive polynomials? (or _what_ did I learn from it?)

Pleased to note that Claude Fable isn't afraid of contact.

Took a few days off the everything app and apparently the algorithm has concluded I must be at vibecamp (I do not know what it is, it seems nice though)

I feel like I spend most of my energy in the initial stages of a conversation trying to answer the specific question of "are they willing to engage with [a] truth?" Once this question is answered, then I think the rest opens up naturally.
the way to understand the replies to this is everyone is telling us about a truth in their environment

"caramel" is a rare example of a word where the American pronunciation has more rounded vowels than the British/Australian version!

I suspect one capability that made Opus 4.5 different from other models (the "late 2025 inflection point") was the "wait-" pattern, to change its mind, essentially. Previous models felt like they'd lock into mistakes and bs unable to recover. But this is such a subtle thing!

Realising that "post what is obvious to me" is probably just as good a strategy as "post what is surprising to me"!

Looks like Google's rolling out these new "Interactive diagrams" for certain topics. Seems like an automatic annotation process – the explainers are generated, while the images come from "licensed" sources (not Google Images or a consistent source).

Real art critique got mixed in with the anti-ai anger and i am mad bc i care about art The “ai” painting is actually inferior! There’s something off about it bc Monet literally had vision problems when painting this Yes the point was we shouldn’t be dismissive of art by its origin but we’re still allowed to critique art just for what it is
