Yes. Though in this case, the probability of a blue win affects whether you should vote blue. If someone intending to vote blue was informed that only 10% of others intended to vote blue, of course he'd change to red. And the framing greatly affects the probabilities.

We also tend to include in these decisions some consideration of other possible, unstated outcomes. In the "red party will kill all blue voters" framing, the live/die outcome is the same but we don't want pitiless, depraved murderers in charge. It would have other consequences.

Over 3.5 years on, this prescient thread is the best read on VAR and why it is so problematic in football.
I’m at the Olympic Stadium and there is a break for a VAR check. It’s going on for a while, so I thought I’d take the opportunity to jot down a few thoughts about VAR.

LEGO is always an adjective. So LEGO bricks, LEGO elements, LEGO sets, etc. Never, ever "legos."

Hi Mick, although there are exemptions for work purposes, you must not have a work Christmas lunch or party, where that is a primarily social activity and is not otherwise permitted by the rules in your tier. You can find more information here: gov.uk/guidance/guidance-for… Thanks

Does seem odd that the focus in so much of the papers around David Amess's murder is around political discourse. I'm all in favour of less shouty/angry hyperbole in politics but it wasn't why he was killed.

I wish they had also created a diverse dataset of rugs so that it didn’t confuse black stripes with cliffs and I could finally get my entire house cleaned 😂

(General point: As a nation the U.K. really needs to stop asking the BBC complaints department to rule on all our deepest cultural issues and just go to therapy.)

(more broadly, the whole row is as @davies_will also pointed out yesterday a nice example of a point we make in Brexitland - namely that in a society where racism is universally seen as wrong, the most intense arguments are over what counts (or doesn't count) as racism)

If you haven't ever read 'Everything is Obvious' by @duncanjwatts, now seems like an apt time – among many useful examples, it introduced me to this classic illustration of hindsight (extract from: newscientist.com/article/mg2…)

And that's because of insight #3: people don't share content because it's good. They share it because IT MAKES THEM LOOK GOOD! Nobody cares where it came from, what matters is that it helps grow people's interest in them when they share it.

We need to stop calling QAnon a conspiracy theory. At this point it's more like a social cult. It's not about one event like 9/11 or the Kennedy Assassination - it's a decoder ring for every event that happens in society. It's a filter through which its adherents view the world.
