we spent the last 3 weeks silently optimizing our docker bun postgres backend infra and our pool of VMs for box we're still running the central orchestration on a 50$/month bare metal instance in Europe but everything spins up so fast even from the US where I am rn

should have used box according to benchmarks a third party team ran for us, box allows agents to 1-shot a Devin clone with 10% less steps needed, and no errors unlike on Daytona all of that, for a 3x smaller sandbox bill, while building and 9x smaller bill while using
Yesterday, @rileybrown oneshotted a working Replit clone with Fable. He used @daytonaio for sandboxing and @convex for db. I'm not one of those people who say you can replace entire companies with a $200 subscription. But I don't really see the point in paying for Lovable or Replit anymore, either.

Thanks to our wonderful sponsors!❤️ @asciidotdev, telli.com and Project A
London is 10x older than SF. Yet, SF is far more successful! Because you can achieve a lot of success in a short timeframe. We're Bringing SF to Europe. Before it's too late.

some teams that use ascii box dont use github. So we introduced new auth methods to simplify their life now you can auth with google or just email. I measured, our onboarding in average takes less than 50 seconds. simple, fast, box.

if you're building personal assistants there is arguably no better sandbox to use than box why? - consumers want to try for free, your costs need to be low. we're the cheapest sandbox by 5x to 25x - we have a desktop computer use model that your agent can call, anything can be done: agent that goes on the desktop, browses social media - we have an android emulator pre installed if you want to imagine crazy usecases - we can host stuff on sandbox with default token gating so its easy to make private artifacts
I'm seeing enough 'personal assistant' agents get to 1M ARR that I can almost certainly say: -TAM is big enough that if you don't get to 1M, you messed up -There is no differentiation, they're all the same. This should be freeing -Details matter, but you can make a lot of bad product decisions and get there -Retention is probably low everywhere, but probably not disastrously low -GTM alpha is more important than anything else -OAI/Anthropic will eat this space, but so what? take a bite -Massive rounds don't matter that much and it's hard to get funding here anyway. Go win some customers then come to investors from a position of power if you want funding

why you should send us unsolicited term sheets: 1. the founders care: *even the cancel plan button is animated* 2. the founders are delusional: *we forgot the cancel plan button until a user asked for it* 3. the founders are always grinding: *CEO shipped the cancel plan within 30 min of being asked by customer, while dining at a founder event, by sending a voice memo to his cloud CTO agent on telegram*

great launch replica! box by @asciidotdev is nearly at feature parity with replica and 6x (monthly sub) to 26x (meter based) cheaper

you can just fork boxes
box is the least expensive sandbox but it doesn't mean it lacks advanced features > new box > connect to desktop > login on whatever in chrome (linkedin for ex) > fork the box > fork is also logged in! setup once, fork around great for agent swarms doing knowledge work & QA

in 2026, no need for an infra hire to give your agents the best env just run: > box new a few sec later you get a full linux VM in the cloud for agents, with sudo, desktop at 60fps, chrome, ssh, most prog. languages, docker, android emulator, claude/codex $1 = 1 VM for 27hrs

box is the most powerful sandbox tech for agents why do we know that? 1. it comes with so many tools that take weeks to get right on other providers, as you can see on video: an agent on a box.ascii.dev sandbox ran a fullstack real-time chat app based on Docker and Django, no struggle, then QAed it across Android and Chrome with desktop use, made a PR with the fix to a bug it found, and recorded a video to prove it works. all out of the box, no custom image or setup, just codex running on it a repo our pre-installed tools and skills what other agentic products, or god forbid any sandbox product, offers such capabilities, either in theory or after a hefty enterprise contract and weeks of building on top? 2. because it's been slow cooked with care by a constrained team we spent 8 months building cloud coding agents tech, and more recently the ultimate CTO/orchestrator agent @asciidotdev that's how box is born, internally, from our own frustration with existing providers, trying to make infra that works for the most ambitious f* up usecases (QA, running ANY code project, hosting anything, scrapping...) we spent hundreds of days fixing bugs, patching holes, stabilizing the infra, and adding capabilities few can replicate (maybe Devin or Cursor come close?) as a team of 2 fresh grads, from Europe, paid minimum. up against huge senior big VP/CTO level teams in the US, paid millions the added benefit of all this is that it's also the most affordable sandbox, we don't need huge margins to sustain ourselves in the next few months, sandboxes will become a near-the-consumer commodity. We bet that other teams won't survive how much we'll cut the cost and complexity already well funded teams come to us and ask "how can each user get a couple long running agents with stateful laptop-level powerful sandbox for 1$/month cost" we're the only ones who can already give answers
