What if the biggest investment risk today isn't AI itself—but the price investors are willing to pay for it? From tech IPO mania to unlisted share euphoria, markets have a habit of turning great stories into expensive trades. The latest chapter? The global AI frenzy. We explore this topic in the latest edition of our letter to investor: carneliancapital.co.in/lette… #Investors #AI #Valuations #StrategicInvestments #IPO #FOMO #ViksitBharat2047
FAD FOMO FADE 3: The Global AI Frenzy 🔹 After calling the tech IPO frenzy (2021) and unlisted shares bubble (2025), we see third fad globally: the AI trade. 🔹 ~$4 trillion of loss-making mega IPOs (SpaceX, OpenAI, Anthropic) hitting markets at 21-93x revenue — Cisco peaked at just 31x in 2000. Such clustering historically marks the top. 🔹 Bubble fingerprints everywhere — record concentration, US valuations at all-time highs, and retail leverage at extremes (Korean retirees breaking insurance policies to buy chip stocks on margin). 🔹 AI is real, the price is not. Internet bulls were right too — Cisco still returned ~0% over 25 years. Right on technology, wrong on price = the costliest mistake in investing. 🔹 India will fall in a global unwind, but with low leverage and reasonable valuations, it recovers first and strongest. Number of parents sending their children to private schools has risen from 31.7% in 2015 to 38.8% in 2026. On the one hand it is good news about rising incomes of middle class parents who can now afford private schooling. But on the other, it reveals the continued rejection of public schooling where quality of education and facilities for children remain below standard. Large scale Improvements in public school system must surely be the most critical and urgently needed reforms in the country. Hope this will be on the agenda of the forthcoming Governing Council meeting of NITI aayog. @PMOIndia @NamoApp @NITIAayog @dpradhanbjp @Pratham_India

Dear @ShashiTharoor , I enjoyed your spirited defence of Rahul Gandhi. Alas, it does not address the central thesis of my column and interview—his dismal leadership record. The facts speak for themselves. The Congress suffered heavy defeats in three successive General Elections fought under his leadership. Meanwhile, the number of Congress MLAs has come down by almost 50% under his watch. In 2013, the Congress was in power in 14 states. That was the party Rahul Gandhi inherited. Now the Congress is in power in just 5 states. As the countrywide footprint of the party shrinks, surely its principal leader should be held accountable? Or is that a question too uncomfortable for the Congress to face?
Come on, @Ram_Guha, this is a bit much. What experience did Barack Obama, a first-term Senator from Illinois, have in world affairs when he became President of the most powerful country on earth, while it was caught up in multiple global issues? For that matter, how much international exposure did the CM of Gujarat have to manage India’s International relationships? @RahulGandhi has led a national party for a dozen years. He has extensive contacts with leaders around the world and no shortage of advisers inside and outside his party. No President or PM handles crises alone; that’s why he heads a government! I think it’s time to put this overblown controversy to rest.

Circa 1880's, Bombay (Mumbai). - 'The new quarter of Bombay looking towards Watsons Esplanade Hotel.' Watson’s Hotel (now known as Esplanade Mansion) in Mumbai's Kala Ghoda art district is India's earliest surviving cast-iron building. Built between 1867 and 1869 by English businessman John Watson, this architectural marvel was entirely fabricated in England and shipped piece-by-piece to Bombay. Originally opened as a whites-only, 130-room luxury hotel, it served as the pinnacle of British colonial influence in the late 19th century. On July 7, 1896, the hotel's ballroom hosted the first-ever film screening in India, showcasing the Lumière Brothers' Cinematographe invention. As luxury hotels evolved, the property transitioned away from hospitality in the 1920s. Renamed Esplanade Mansion, it was subdivided and used as residential flats and commercial spaces, primarily serving as law offices. #Mumbai #hotel #history

About the fire in Delhi, while the owners and management need and deserve to be arrested, what about the civic officials who let this slide? Obviously there were bribes given at every level to assure silence of the municipal authorities, local govt authorities. When will the babus pay the price? Cc @gupta_rekha

The cancer of corruption (and apathy to responsibility) has spread wide & deep in our nation. Unless radical, punitive action (including capital punishment) is meted to the guilty / those in dereliction of duty, the nation cannot become viksit & respected @narendramodi @AmitShah

The hotel Flourish Stays in Malaviya Nagar, where the fire incident has killed 21 people so far, had permission for only 6 rooms but was operating 25. It didn't have fire safety clearance either. No surprises. I'm sure 90% of hotels operate like this. MCD knows, they come for inspections, take their cut, and leave. It's only after such tragedies that these irregularities make the news. Will the police arrest any MCD officials responsible for ensuring that hotels operate as per the norms? No way. They'll probably arrest the hotel's restaurant cooking staff because the fire apparently started in the kitchen.

Bever understood why merely transferring a bureaucrat (for incompetence / corrupt actions / dereliction of duty) is considered as "action"? Unless "sacking" & if it merits, then criminal prosecution, become the norm, our nation will continue to suffer @narendramodi @AmitShah

Next logical action should be to dismantle symbols of British life style and elitism by demolishing Lutyen’s bungalows spead over three to four acres each occupied by Ministers and senior babus. Even in many states, they have carved such residential conclaves for themselves and their political masters. Clean and green while rest of cities sink and stink. In which other civilised democracy they get such heavily subsidised residential accommodation? How much does it cost to maintain each one of them? As their numbers rise, babus are now pushing for more and more luxurious habitats for them in the Lutyen’s zone. @narendramodi @IASassociation
Any institute or a club funded or supported by government can’t be allowed restrictive and selective use of its facilities. Delhi Gymkhana, Golf Clubs etc all over the country run on free or subsidised huge land parcels provided by the babus ,for the babus and their cohorts only. Others have to wait for memberships till their grand children are born. Now they are paid well, let them join privately run clubs where they can outreach their contacts for networking. @PMO, @narendramodi @AmitShah @IASassociation @BureaucratsInd
