I see a lot of people celebrating this because "omg finally, we can get new Fallout and Elder Scrolls games sooner!"
Guys, this is a Monkey's Paw.
Bethesda, without tight deadlines or being rushed from higher ups before gave us Fallout 4, Fallout 76 and Starfield. Three abysmally dogshit games, each worse than the last.
While it is true that working within limitations can absolutely push innovation and creativity, I seriously doubt we'll get that from Bethesda. Emil's writing is shit with all the time in the world to do it, who honestly thinks that being pushed to make games faster will improve his writing? Does anyone think we'll get better RPG mechanics? Better world building? Better quests?
All this will do is get us an even worse game faster. The problem is Bethesda, their leadership and company culture. Until that is fixed, of which there appears to be no sign of (has anyone seen how fucking lazy Terran Armada is?) then we won't be getting good games from them again. Unless you mindlessly consume slop, getting excited over this is only setting yourself up for disappointment.
