I've got two kids who my wife talked me into spending £36k a year on boarding school for, giving them a life totally different to mine. I can't stand they would rather go to the natural history museum than try get a bottle of cider and get pissed each weekend

“Shit.” 📍Watch as Chloe Swarbrick is shut down by Speaker Gerry Brownlee on Wednesday after quoting the lived reality of young New Zealanders during Question Time: “No work, shit pay, why stay?” Brownlee’s justification? Seemingly bruised feelings over that recent incident involving Brooke van Velden’s use of the c-word in the House: “I’ve had far too much criticism directed my way because some other member chose to use an inappropriate word.” An astonishing refusal to engage with uncomfortable truths — especially when they come from the mouths of the young and disillusioned. Then, less than an hour later, after lecturing the House on the standards expected of them while leaving the chamber, Brownlee is caught on a hot mic muttering the very word he had just censored. Apparently, “shit” is only offensive when it comes from the opposition. When government MPs cross the line, or the Speaker himself lets it slip, there’s no issue. But when Chloe Swarbrick quotes the frustration of a generation, it’s suddenly beyond the pale. Hypocrisy much? #nzpol

Very shoddy law-making tonight. The government's Cost of Living Payments Bill says the Regulatory Impact Statement are online on the IRD and @nztreasury website. That wasn't true at 4.30 when the Bill was introduced and it isn't true now. Just hopeless and not acceptable.

What I'd just say to you is, denying bottomfeeder women equal pay isn't about the money, it's about the billions of dollars we won't have to pay them & I don't care how Nicola explains it to her daughters #LyinLuxon #WorstPMEver #WorstGovernmentEver #CoalitionOfCorruption #NZpol

Dark day for New Zealand women as Government announces it will repeal pay equity law and even extinguish existing claims in an unconstitutional overreach. Game on to fight against this!
