Always fascinated with the “what is university for” question. When rich kids are involved: “university is so much more than getting a job: it’s about enriching the soul/rounding you out as a human being” When it’s a poor kid: “but will this really help them get a better job?”

Let’s talk about sexual dimorphism in humans. This is something that comes up a lot in Jordan Peterson & incel circles. And it sets you up for terrible answers, because it fundamentally misunderstands the question. A better question: why are human males and females so SIMILAR.

a nice thing about writing with less jargon is that if what I'm saying doesn't make sense, it's easy for readers to call me on it if you use a lot of impenetrable jargon, people will often think the problem is with *them* instead of with your writing

I know what they're trying to do, and it's a disgrace. You can't push racism in society to win an election and then claim it was a good thing if you did manage to win via this strategy.

Also - my main reaction to Tory MPs closing ranks to protect Owen Paterson over his financial conflicts of interest, is that numerous Tory MPs are balls-deep in similar financial conflicts of interest.

I recently passed on a job offer after 4 rounds of interviews. This company only seemed interested in grilling me on my coding ability (all 4 interviews were technical, live coding sessions) and never asked about the hundred other things I do as part of my life as a dev.
