With the heightened debate about 🇺🇸force posture in Europe, and with Poland at the center, it was a great and timely opportunity to co-author this important article with @MeitzPL @TheNatlInterest about permanent basing of the right mix of 🇺🇸forces in Poland. It’s not only about resetting deterrence, of course that’s crucial. It’s also about taking advantage of a generational opportunity to deepen force-integration with Poland, America’s most loyal, willing and increasingly capable Ally. It’s about rapidly turning Poland into a near-peer 🇺🇸Ally, which will be a game-changer for the defense of Europe. nationalinterest.org/feature…

.@USArmy's 🇺🇸 3rd Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade #3IDSB transferred authority to the 1st Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade #1IDSB during a ceremony held at Forward Operating Site Powidz, Poland 🇵🇱, June 4, 2026. "Durable" Brigade from now on assumed control of sustainment operations on @NATO's eastern flank, supplying U.S. forces from the Baltic to the Black Sea in support of Operation European Assure Deter and Reinforce #EADR.

This is part of a regular planned redeployment of @USArmy's 🇺🇸 forces stationed in Lithuania 🇱🇹 for 9 months in support of Operations #AtlanticResolve and European Assure, Deter, and Reinforce #EADR. It concerns 1st Battalion, 12th Cavalry Regiment and 2nd Battalion, 82nd Field Artillery Regiment from the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team ("Greywolf"), 1st Cavalry Division. Both units officially took responsibility during transfer of authority ceremony at Camp Herkus, Lithuania, on Oct. 3, 2025. "Greywolf" Brigade was supposed to be replaced by the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team (“Black Jack”), 1st Cavalry Division, however the deployment was abruptly canceled in mid-May. lrt.lt/en/news-in-english/19…

👉 defensie.nl/actueel/nieuws/2…

Poland signed a $2 billion contract for 146 more Borsuk infantry fighting vehicles. It's Poland's own design — built at home, replacing Soviet-era armor, and ordered in numbers that show Warsaw is serious about defending itself. defence-blog.com/poland-orde…

While this is important move by the members of Congress, it needs to be acknowledged that there’s little chance NDAA become law before October (realistically it might be December). Therefore the date for the report will be postponed, probably giving EUCOM another 90 days.
Proposed #NDAA27 draft would require @US_EUCOM’s Commander to deliver a report on U.S. global force posture with special emphasis on USEUCOM and the American military presence in Poland 🇵🇱. A key element of the legislation is a review examining whether the rotational deployment of one or two U.S. Army Armored Brigade Combat Teams (ABCTs) in Poland should transition into a permanent stationing.

U.S. 🇺🇸 and Polish 🇵🇱 officials gathered in Powidz Air Base on May 27, 2026, to celebrate the completion of the @usairforce’s second-largest War Reserve Materiel site in Europe. The DABS (Deployable Air Base System) storage complex project was completed through the Poland Provided Infrastructure #PPI program within #EDCA, which is led and funded by the Polish government in close coordination with @US_EUCOM. 👉🏻 dvidshub.net/news/566182/new…

I hope these 5,000 Troops has not been calculated as 4,000 from the @USArmy's 🇺🇸 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team @1stCavalryDiv with its current deployment status to Poland 🇵🇱 announced as "paused/cancelled" plus additional 1,000. This would make in practice a gain just for 1,000.
This is good news for Poland and our Baltic allies. I’m glad the President reversed the SecDef decision to withdraw the Brigade from Poland. Poland walks the talk and deserves our close partnership.

It feels like the answer to current uncertainty. It isn’t. U.S. 🇺🇸 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, has been deploying to Poland 🇵🇱 as regular planned Armored Brigade Combat Team (ABCT) rotation. It hasn’t been delayed. It has been recently paused/cancelled with some of its elements already deployed at forward operating sites. Will mentioned below reduction affect this brigade and following ABCTs? What is effective date of reduction from four to three ABCTs?
STATEMENT: The Department of War has reduced the total number of Brigade Combat Teams (BCTs) assigned to Europe from four to three. This returns us to the levels of BCTs in Europe in 2021. This decision was the result of a comprehensive, multilayered process focused on U.S. force posture in Europe. This is resulting in a temporary delay of the deployment of U.S. forces to Poland, which is a model U.S. ally. The Department will determine the final disposition of these and other U.S. forces in Europe based on further analysis of U.S. strategic and operational requirements, as well as our allies’ own ability to contribute forces toward Europe’s defense. This analysis is designed to advance President Trump’s America First agenda in Europe and other theaters, including by incentivizing and enabling our NATO allies to take primary responsibility for Europe’s conventional defense. Secretary Hegseth spoke with Polish Deputy Prime Minister Kosiniak-Kamysz earlier today, and the Department will remain in close contact with our Polish counterparts as this analysis proceeds, including to ensure that the United States retains a strong military presence in Poland. Poland has shown both the ability and resolve to defend itself. Other NATO allies should follow suit. The Department will provide more information at the appropriate time, in the appropriate setting.

On 18 May 1944, Allied forces broke through the Gustav Line at Monte Cassino, a turning point in the Italian campaign. The Polish II Corps, led by General Władysław Anders, played a decisive role in this victory. Their courage and sacrifice, symbolised by the Polish flag raised over the monastery ruins, remain an enduring part of Poland’s military legacy. Monte Cassino also reminds us of the strong bond between Poland and the United Kingdom, forged in war and carried forward through shared values and cooperation. Today, we remember those who fought and fell. We will remember them.

The abrupt cancellation of U.S. rotational deployments to #Poland will go down in history as one of the worst political decisions of the Trump administration. Numbers matter, but most of all, blindsiding the most trusted and loyal US ally in @NATO simply makes no sense. Cui bono?

Spent the day embedded with Polish troops from the 18th “Iron Division” along NATO’s border with Belarus. What I saw was not a typical border operation. Armed patrols, electronic barriers, military convoys and soldiers describing what Poland calls a new kind of war: migration weaponized by Belarus and Russia to pressure Europe and NATO. Na jakich zasadach żołnierze z 🇺🇸 @2dCavalryRegt mieliby niby stacjonować w Polsce 🇵🇱, jeśli w Niemczech 🇩🇪 jest to obecność stała (PCS - Permanent Change of Station) uprawniająca m.in. do pobytu żołnierzy wraz z rodzinami i przysługującym całym pakietem wsparcia socjalnego (przedszkola, szkoły, wynajem domów/mieszkań, itd.)?
W Polsce żołnierze USA realizują swoje zadania w ramach: 1.wysuniętej obecności NATO (Forward Land Forces - FLF), 2.operacji Atlantic Resolve poprzez V Korpus USA, w ramach którego w kilku lokalizacjach rozmieszczona jest Brygadowa Grupa Pancerna (ABCT) i pozostałe komponenty sił zbrojnych. - Komponent stały obecności USA w Polsce to zasadniczo obsługa bazy antyrakietowej w Redzikowie oraz elementy dowodzenia i logistyczne V Korpusu z siedzibą w Poznaniu. Rotację prowadzi Pierwsza Dywizja Kawalerii USA z Fort Hood w Teksasie (1st Cavalry Division). - Trwa przemieszczenie i narastanie sił USA w Polsce.

This is baloney. For starters Poland was not notified. Senior leaders contacted me yesterday saying they were blindsided. And… I’ve learned EUCOM did NOT say there was minimal risk by cancelling the deployment. This was a foolish and embarrassing course of events.
“The decision to withdraw troops follows a comprehensive, multilayered process that incorporates perspectives from key leaders in EUCOM and across the chain of command. This was not an unexpected, last-minute decision, and it would be false to report it as such.” -Acting Pentagon Press Secretary @JoelValdezDOW

The Pentagon blindsided Poland and pulled an armored brigade out of Eastern Europe while Russia is still waging war in Ukraine. This sends a weak message to Putin and is a slap in the face to our NATO allies. We need answers and accountability from DoD.

An eye-opening statement with regard to recent cancellation of the deployment of the U.S. 🇺🇸 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division to Poland 🇵🇱 during today's testimony from @SecArmy, Dan Driscoll, and Acting Army Chief of Staff, General Christopher LaNeve on the Army's FY27 budget request. .@RepDonBacon: "Here is another question. Do we know if Poland was notified by the Secretary?" SecArmy: "Ehh, we don't know." "I've already known the answer cause they called me yesterday. They didn't know. They were blindsided. These are some of the best Allies and they had no idea. They still do not know what the plan is, the order was stopped. They don't know if this is just a suspension or permanent. We owe Poland, who, and Baltic friends, who are very vulnerable for this decision a better explanation here and rational. We should be doing this before, we actually make the decision, we should be coordinating with them. It's an embarrassment to our country in the way it's being handled." 👉youtube.com/live/QtEuiAG6sA0…
