“We wanted to be inclusive, so we made our characters from different cultures.” — mid school youth game designers in our #LearningGamesLab programs. The capabilities and interests of our youth developers impress me every year!

Hey #CFSEC2023 peeps... I'd love to create food safety educational materials for the family and friends who prepare food for patients with cancer. Any content experts interested?

Loved hearing @healthcommdj perspective on raw chicken washing…. Curious as to views on latest animations at fightbac.org/poultry/ and if they’ve covered enough of the “why”… or what else needs to be said?

I am in heaven: hearing @WadedCruzado talking about Morrill, Hatch and Smith Lever acts - the importance of Land-Grant Universities, and the crucial role we play in tying instruction to research to outreach.

Powerful point made by Principal Treadwell about 4-H at Collet Park Elem: it’s unfair to expect buy-in from teachers /parents by *telling them* about experiential learning… they have to be engaged with it, and reflect on it. It’s hard to “direct instruct” the value of 4-H

I love hearing teachers talk about experiential learning in schools: and how *4-H Fridays* transforms learners who are often have access to primarily direct instruction. I love 4-H and seeing NM’s school-4-H integration is inspiring!

In 30 years of large group collaboration meetings with researchers and faculty, yesterday was the 1st time the MEN in the group led discussion by defining themselves as parents, and encouraged discussion about their kids.

Biocrusts - biomes in the soil made of minerals and microorganisms - are fascinating! Microbes lay dormant, and when they get rain, they reanimate… springing to life. Grateful to @DrylandAlgae and @WhiteSandNps for the chance to tell their story in VR app. First shoot today!

Because everything we make should be for everybody. We are all on a spectrum of need, and we can all contribute. Thanks, #apple for telling these stories apple.com/the-greatest/

What can U’s do? Reconsider standing policies: roommate changes, late work, minimum credit/grades for scholarships. Help faculty connect with every student, be liberal with incompletes and W’s. This class needs GRACE in navigating a world they have not been trained for. 2/2.

Universities may have people who care about students, but the *systems* are wreaking havoc on mental health. Kids’ HS COVID years delayed their development of executive functioning, social & tech skills. “Back to normal” isn’t good enough. Fear, stress, despair are the norms. 1/2

I try to not take pleasure in the pain of others... but this made me cheer. The blatant lies told, purely to build profit and feed his outrage-fueled audience, were harmful and served as a model for other types of communications. It must stop.
Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and his company were ordered Thursday to pay an extra $473 million to victims' families and an FBI agent for calling the 2012 Sandy Hook school shooting a hoax, adding to a nearly $1 billion jury verdict issued last month. apnews.com/article/entertain…
