If I have to spend my professional life saying one thing, it would be that the concept of 'going home' is not applicable to all students. For young ppl estranged from family, university is home, and their only home. Messaging needs to be inclusive of the variation in family life.

I have a leasehold home in Hastings, where flats are common. I pay £120 a month for the m. company to do NOTHING. Then, they announce major works of £ in the middle of a cost of living crisis! Leasehold has to go. Seats like Hastings matter. @LKPleasehold #leasehold

I founded and grew @UKStandAlone for this very reason. Our research shows 1 in 5 families experience family estrangement, it’s not abnormal. We just don’t talk about it. People shouldn’t feel shame. In the face of abusive dynamics, drawing boundaries is important.

The U.K is totally broken. A casual look at the news just baffles me. Boris's defence was a £200K publicly-funded (!) insult to the millions who lost ppl without a funeral. Then news of a 3.5million bonus to the boss of @BritishGas. How can anyone defend this culture?
