Thrilled to share our work is on the cover of Science Advances! From finding the fossil with my father in 2021 to countless hours across synchrotrons worldwide. Huge thanks to @JolfRocks, Nathaly Archilha, Miguel Basei, and @InvertebratePal! science.org/doi/10.1126/scia…

#Microfósseis interpretados como rastros de animais eram na verdade algas e bactérias. Material de 540 milhões de anos foi reanalisado por meio de técnicas de microtomografia e espectroscopia. agencia.fapesp.br/58058

Is #FossilFriday still a thing? Anyway, here’s Burgessia from the MCZ collection at Harvard, imaged with laser- and LED-stimulated photoluminescence. Work in progress with @InvertebratePal

Have you ever seen a 540-million-year-old microbe at the nanoscale? In our new Gondwana Research paper, we revisit classic Ediacaran Brazilian fossils using synchrotron nanoCT. Free access for 50 days authors.elsevier.com/a/1meEc… Grateful to @SincrotronLNLS @CNPEM @InvertebratePal

#líquen conhecido no registro fóssil ajudou a estruturar ecossistemas terrestres. Estudo confirma que simbiose entre fungo e alga que dissolve rochas e estava distribuída amplamente pela Terra 410 milhões de anos atrás ajudou a formar os primeiros solos agencia.fapesp.br/56450

Couldn't resist photographing this sample too. Any guesses whose eyes these are?

Missed #FossilFriday, but here's my late contribution! Meet Cloudina, one of my favorite Ediacaran fossils (for obvious reasons haha). These tubular creatures were among the first to produce mineralized skeletons. The top image is a composite from multispectral imaging.

For #FossilFriday here's my favorite shot of giant fossil microbes from the Itajaí Basin (Brazil), uniquely preserved as casts

New paper out in Royal Society Open Science! With @SMughal315 and George Wedlake, we revisit the Proterozoic microfossil record to review what it can tell us about early eukaryote evolution, and how new tools are renewing and enhancing its utility. royalsocietypublishing.org/d…

This is sad
🛑 Writing on our rocky outcrops is wrong, and permanently damages our natural heritage. 🚨 This vandalism risks destroying features like our Precambrian fossils, and at many sites in Charnwood Forest, is illegal. 📷 Take only pictures, leave only footprints
