Taking control of the #sqlite WAL - a deep dive into how rqlite lifts the lid on SQLite. And a h/t to @benbjohnson whose work on Litestream showed it was possible. philipotoole.com/taking-cont…

Annie really did do a killer job distilling Litestream down. I don’t even think I can explain Litestream in four minutes.
One of the better Annie videos (which is saying something), condensing Litestream down to 4 minutes. youtube.com/watch?v=O0iG4HSs…

I just got opt-in, per-transaction synchronous replication working for litestream. I haven't written c in 25 years. The whole LLM thing is pretty neat

Wrote up about my personal journey from AI skeptic to someone who finds a lot of value in it daily. My goal is to share a more measured approach to finding value in AI rather than the typical overly dramatic, hyped bait out there. mitchellh.com/writing/my-ai-…

I’m tempted to make a Chrome extension that hides all blog posts and YouTube videos that have the phrase “this changes everything” in it. Is everyone just asking Claude to make up their titles these days and that’s why they’re all the same?

I've been harassing my friend @corylanou to start recording his workflow with Claude Code. He's taught me so much on AI in the last few months and he finally released his first video! Check it out and give him some feedback. 🙏 youtube.com/watch?v=-GKBBMBP…

He's also the person that got me into writing Go more than 12 years ago. He's someone I look to for understanding upcoming trends more than anyone else.

Many organizations mandate a separate reviewer on a PR from the person who wrote the code. But if Claude's writing all our code, can we now approve our own PRs? 🤔

In fact, now that codegen has been automated away, it frees up a lot of time to read more code than ever. Not just work projects, but also open source projects known for high code quality (like SQLite). You’ll come away with a lot of ideas you can incorporate in your own work.

i just put all my opencode data into sqlite unsurprisingly it can query, filter, aggregate way better than it can when these were flat files agents love databases and a filesystem is just the worst kind of database

People bragging about how many simultaneous Claude agents they’re running is such a weird flex. It’s touting the effort rather than the results. It’s like boasting that I run all my CPU cores at 100%. Ok, are they doing anything useful?

Sprites is a very cool new thing: it solves two of my pet problems at once, developer sandbox environments for coding agents and a JSON API for executing untrusted code I wrote more here: simonwillison.net/2026/Jan/9…
We made a thing called Sprites that lets you run AI code safely. Watch Chris create sandboxes in seconds, let agents install packages freely, then restore to checkpoints when things go sideways. 🔗 ➡️ 🧵

My friend recently bought a WISP (wireless internet service provider) and needs to hire a network engineer to help with routing & switching. Anybody know anyone that does that sort of thing on a contract basis? He's in Austin, TX but open to hiring someone remotely.

LiteFS from the great @benbjohnson was one of our inspirations to start @tursodatabase. We are saddened that @flydotio's LiteFS Cloud is going away. For users migrating away, we have a special offer for you: $5/mo on the first 6 months on our hobby plan. Link 👇

Anybody have recommendations for well done, open source TypeScript libraries? I just ported a repo and it’s my first TS project. I’m sure I’m getting a lot wrong so I’d love to find examples to learn from.
