the startups that thrive are the ones that sell a good product AND can sell a strong sentiment that align with their values.
a few of my friends run this company that focus on warm connects to matchmake for desired goals (ex. love, work, etc).
both co-founders are technical (ex-Uber, Jane Street, etc), BUT the hospitality they sell is unmatched. it never feels transactional, and they’re the type of people that make you feel included.
first major event at SF tech week. 300 people in attendance. i still think about the event, the ambiance and keep in touch with people i met there.
their newsletter? feels vetted because it’s humans at the core. that’s a face you can expand your network with, and since it’s early-stage, it has intentionality and taste.
warm intros give the context that establish trust, and this is a KEY concept in anything ranging from social settings to hiring to even angel investing in companies.
wanted to explore startup company deep dives, and had to start off with vega because the concept makes me smile among a lot of consumer apps!

the best first dates are low stakes (coffee, walk, ice cream)
because the point of a first date is to see if you genuinely enjoy talking to each other, NOT whether you can finance something fancy
it removes the pressure and expectations, creates more genuine conversation, and naturally filters out the people who were there for the date instead of you
