Popping my head up to say I'm very badly in need of incoming work/new clients at the moment. If you're looking for notes/feedback on your work, please DM me or respond below so I can follow you/share my current rates. Many thanks

Feels good knowing the notes and POV I’ve given multiple screenwriters this week are 100% mine, authored (literally/figuratively) by me, and no robot in the world could have possibly given them.

The “busywork” of WRITING A SCRIPT?? [flips table, goes back to reading scripts from actual writers…considers flipping table again later]
The “AI in Hollywood” debate is exhausting. Scriptlaunch takes a smarter angle: don’t replace the writer—support them. #sponsored nofilmschool.com/scriptlaunc…

I thought about doing this without any jokes, something I've never done here in 23 years, to impress upon people how much different I feel this issue is from any I have ever covered.

Positive as this news is, it comes at an actual cost, much higher than yours truly was imagining re: finances Thus I am very much in need of new clients/consults! If you're looking for feedback on your script please reach out. My rates are reasonable, my rep & passion strong

I don’t know why it’s so hard for people to have empathy for Michael B Jordan, Delroy Lindo, Hannah Beachler, and John Davidson. Each of them deserves it.

One AI thing I AM worried about and am genuinely curious how those who are much more excited about AI than I am feel: In the MFA filmmaking class I teach at ArtCenter, decks used to be a total mixed bag. A few great, many very bad. That said, you could watch students get better at writing loglines and summaries and character descriptions as the semester went on. Now it’s obvious 98% are written by ChatGPT. Same voice. Same structure. They're all, as the kids say, "mid". ChatGPT is great for research and organization. But kids relying on it this early? I worry it’s going to make everyone dumber and dumber and dumber. How do you learn to write prose and find your voice and write original dialogue when all you do it ask a computer to do it for you? And this goes for all industries.

My challenge to all the AI mongers on this site: make a scene as awesome as this. And I don’t mean just imitate it but with RDJ and Brad Pitt in the car, make something original without depending on star power, but still as awesome as this.

You have no idea how much I resent AI for completely ruining a perfectly good sentence structure: "It's not just x – it's y." You cannot write that anymore. Everyone will assume it's AI or get derailed wondering if it's AI. We've been robbed of an entire sentence form.

No one, apart from you, wants to see that thing you made with AI.

This is a horror story. A Florida woman who lives paycheck to paycheck was fined over $100,000 for...parking on her own grass. A judge ruled that wasn't "excessive." The Florida Supreme Court won't hear her case. She's not even the first. A thread.

Barbara Broccoli, who just relinquished control of the James Bond franchise to Amazon MGM after 11 films, warns that if the career producer doesn't have a path to survival, the biggest casualty will be the consumer: “Career producers are the guardians of narrative integrity and emotional truth. When the producer’s hand is diminished, quality suffers, and the audience feels this loss.” variety.com/2025/film/featur…

You're not creating anything with AI, you're exploring an infinite library of other people's works and laying claim to anything you find there because you feel like you put effort into the search.
