Cruz: If the Democrats take the House, it will be nonstop impeachment. If they take the Senate, they will shut down every confirmation for every cabinet member and judge.

Ruwa is already a Georgia State Representative, and she absolutely belongs here. Whether or not you respect her, she’s about to go back to the Capitol to fight for everyone’s right to vote, including yours.

Ruwa Romman doesn't represent a single Georgia resident. She doesn't belong in this state.

I raise you high speed rail from DC to Birmingham. Would be insanely restorative, economically speaking. Atlanta’s Terminus era really could come back.

So this mostly still exists but stops in Richmond I think - heading east stops in Newport News. Going into VA beach would be hard because you’d need to go underwater (see the HRBT)

A future Governor of Georgia who doesn’t trust women. We are talking about rape victims! My God! Let’s send @KeishaBottoms to the Governors mansion and get these men out of women’s hospital rooms.
Huffington Post: Leaked audio shows Republican candidate for Georgia Governor Rick Jackson agreeing that women should "prove" rape to access abortion Rick Jackson, a Republican gubernatorial candidate in Georgia, agreed that “two wrongs don’t make a right” regarding rape victims accessing abortion care. If Republicans want to help Atlanta in any meaningful way, they could start by funding MARTA. This would include security. However, The GA GOP prefers to instigate a crisis, pretend to help, spike police surveillance and do nothing to solve the problem they created.
Governor Kemp should (temporarily) deploy the National Guard to MARTA immediately. Once fare gates are all finished and there's a serious plan for restoring safety and order in the system, they can be withdrawn. Enough is enough. New York's Democratic governor deployed the Guard to the New York City Subway in 2024.

Michigan Senate candidate Haley Stevens voted with Republicans against the Lebanon war powers resolution:
Here are the 117 Democrats who voted with Republicans against Rashida Tlaib's Lebanon war powers resolution. Thomas Massie was the one Republican to join 91 Democrats — who all bucked party leadership — in voting for it.

They've taken to calling me "dangerous." Go ask children in Detroit who needed glasses if I'm dangerous. Go ask people whose medical debt was cancelled if I'm dangerous. Go ask the people who are breathing on the wrong end of a smokestack if I'm dangerous. I'm not dangerous to them. Now go ask a politician backed by corporations. For damn sure I'm dangerous to them. Why? Because I'm coming for the system where people take money from corporations to funnel into elections so that all the politicians who get elected end up serving the corporations and not the people.

WATCH: Republicans again blocked Sen. Ossoff's amendment to prevent insurance companies from denying or delaying needed care. “Instead of slush funds for criminals and corrupt ballrooms, let's do something useful. Let's ban insurance companies from denying or delaying medically necessary health care to Americans," Sen. Ossoff said.

Shannon, you know your comment is fundamentally made in bad faith. Curbing the destructive influence of corporations, billionaires, and the war machine is arguably among the highest-priority strategies for tackling climate change. Any serious discussion of climate solutions has to confront the institutions driving the majority of emissions and global environmental degradation.
Weird that an organization started to address climate change no longer cares about climate change.

ACC’s coverage has been such an important part of civic life here in Atlanta. This is such a huge loss for our community’s access to truthful, impactful reporting.
SAD THREAD: Maybe you’ve heard the news: @AtlantaCivicCircle is going under. It’s another casualty of the current, unforgiving journalism ecosystem — a loss that will leave Atlanta with, by my math, ZERO dedicated housing reporters. Let’s talk about what that means... (1/)

Republicans in North Carolina just proposed a bill that says if a woman is caught with an IUD or attempts to get an abortion then men are allowed to use DEADLY FORCE to try and stop her. They are proposing a bill that will allow men to kill women for using birth control. It’s House Bill 1232. Keith Kidwell is the Republican who proposed the bill. He claims it counts as self defense to use deadly force to stop abortion. This is a man who claims to be pro life. Feel free to give his office a call and let him know how you feel about his opinion. And for anyone who says “obviously this will never get passed” that’s not the point. The point is it’s fucking insanity that a government official would even try to make a law like this. It’s insanity that there are men out there who are trying to make it legal to kill women for making decisions for their own bodies. This is real and it’s happening right now in front of our eyes.

This is slavery. Homeless people are human beings. What are we doing here?
BREAKING: The Louisiana Senate passed a disturbing anti-homeless bill that pushes homeless people into jails, forced treatment, and unpaid labor. Hours earlier, the same lawmakers voted to give themselves $1,000 to cover housing expenses, recognizing housing is too expensive.
