Warning from Vahid Sorkhgol, a political prisoner of the monarchy, about detainees from the “12-Day Uprising”
To the people of Iran
Without exaggeration and free from political factionalism, a solution must be found for the immense pressure and systematic oppression being inflicted upon political prisoners from the recent protests. Prisoners who, in cells such as Ward 3 of Ghezel Hesar Prison, are subjected to the worst conditions, humiliation, verbal abuse, obscenities, and even physical beatings.
In Evin Prison, an individual named Yousofi, the deputy of the so-called “Security” division, has been assigned to deal with political prisoners as if they were slaves. Beyond insults and humiliation, we are certain that steering them toward industrial narcotics has also been planned, so that they will no longer have any future occupation.
On the other hand, political prisoners imprisoned in Ghezel Hesar have been beaten from the moment they entered. Some of them have been held for more than four months in solitary confinement cells where several times the prison’s actual capacity are being kept together: without contact, without fresh air, and even without adequate access to water for hygiene.
Even now, in the prison hall affiliated with Rajaei Shahr Prison and located next to wards for murderers and rapists, they are being held with the bare minimum of facilities: without sufficient space or proper accommodations, without the right to daily phone calls, with restrictions on fresh air time, deprived of cabin visitations, and facing dozens of other deficiencies, including even access to clean drinking water.
It is far-fetched to believe that senior prison officials are unaware of this situation. These are the same theatrical actors of the government; a scenario in which the sons of this very land are once again used to create fear in the hearts of our people.
While every day a new danger looms over the lives of our brothers and sisters, and the ropes that turn necks blue and suffocate lives continue to claim victims, we must not become entangled in the government’s staged performances.
From all media outlets that truly care about Iran and are not consumed by partisan games, from international human rights organizations, and from the honorable and patriotic people of Iran, I ask that they find an effective solution for the condition of the political prisoners arrested during the recent protests and the current war.
These young people cried out and remained silent for years while witnessing oppression and repression.
