funfact michelangelo got the commission for the chapel ceiling only because some other guy wanted him to fail. bc he had worked on a commission for the tomb of pope julius ii (with which he was never satisfied bc people kept interrupting his work) and the other guy was pissed

this is so true. some of my favourite fics have less than 1k kudos (some less than 500) and a lot of people won't give them a chance just because they see the "low" number and think it's not worth it.
