90,000 people live in Germantown, in upper Montgomery County, and to date the most walkable thing they've got is a Panda Express behind a car dealership. So this would be a nice improvement!

Here's that Panda Express for those curious. Germantown's current most walkable corner. They got a bus lane though! google.com/maps/@39.1852797,…

I often Metro between Takoma & Arlington around rush hour. It takes ~45 minutes. Yesterday I drove and it took 2 hours. Don't believe people who say transit is a culture war issue.

Bike Friendly Communities awards status to bike friendly communities. Walk Friendly Communities awards status to walk friendly communities. Kind of weird there's not a Transit Friendly Communities organization to... y'know.

Branson is a theme park for suburbia the way Main Street Disney is a theme park for small town USA.

Anyway some family members are in Branson, doing this celebration of suburbia, texting me photos left and right, and it's very clearly all they've ever wanted from a vacation. I'm not going to yuck their yum, but it is anthropologically fascinating.
