Great news. NJ A3446 was voted out of the Assembly Education Committee. Now unto the next step. Thanks to all the other members of the Committee who voted yes!!! And yes @GovMurphy reading books is better than banning books. @NJASL @njla@njea
Some of the witnesses at the "Freedom to Read" Act hearing stress that they don't oppose books because they have gay characters or authors but because of explicit images. But this woman was one of the witnesses x.com/MattFriedmanNJ/status/…
"We CANNOT let Curtis Bashaw, a Never Trump Republican who donates to Democrats, win. Curtis is married to a man, and he is proud of it." — "parental rights" activist Victoria Jakelsky politico.com/newsletters/new…
Tweeting @CongressmanKean bc I want an actual reply to my email and not a canned one:
Dear Congressman Kean,
I was going to respond to this email when you sent it in May. I decided not to because I knew there would be another opportunity in the near future to send my response.
That opportunity happened yesterday in Maine. The entire state is under lockdown because of one person who had access to an assault weapon. We are now beyond the "Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners."
The answer is because our government refuses to take any meaningful action and continues to hide behind second amendment rights. A reminder that this amendment was written when citizens had access to muskets, not AR-15s.
I once again implore you to take a stand, to put country above party, and sign on to US HB698, a bill that calls for the regulation of assault weapons. A ten-year old who survived the massacre in Maine asked "Why do people do this?"
Bestselling author Jason Reynolds’ new children’s book was inspired by a photo of people dancing in a library, celebrating Langston Hughes.
He hopes the story encourages children to see the library as “a place for freedom.”
When books are banned, it restricts information and discourages freedom of thought. It also undermines one of the primary functions of education: teaching students how to think for themselves. Let's celebrate the freedom to read! 📚 #WeAreNJEA#BannedBooksWeek
“Ask the many NJ parents that are grieving … if they believe in this version of “Parental Rights”. Or would they have preferred parental freedom to send their child to a school that supports all the students when they have mental challenges.” insidernj.com/gops-parental-…
Here to report a theft. I spent three decades of my life to write my books. The Al large language models did not "ingest" or "scrape"
"data." Al companies stole my work, time, and creativity. They stole my stories. They stole a part of me.
