I am honored to win the nomination of New Jersey Democrats for the United States Senate this November–an election where so much is at stake for the future of our country. This is a moral moment in America. Throughout our nation’s 250 year history, generations have been called to stand up and show that the power of people is always greater than the people in power, and we must answer that call again.
Let me be clear: this November I am running not just for Democrats, but to represent all of New Jersey and fight for Americans regardless of party. I know that the issues that divide us today are not about left vs. right, they’re about right vs. wrong. The chaos, corruption, and cruelty from Trump’s Washington demands an answer at the ballot box, and I know that millions of you are ready to stand up and speak out.
I’m in this race because I believe in an America where we stand up for all our rights, where we lead with love and compassion not anger and fear, where there is opportunity for all, not just the rich and powerful.
This is the call of our nation, to redeem the dream for future generations. We must answer the call this November and elect leaders who will stand up and fight for all of us.
Most importantly I want to extend my deepest gratitude for your support and every person who voted for me in this election. Although today I was unopposed, during my first race for Newark Municipal Council, we forced a runoff against the party-machine by just a few hundred votes. So I have never taken a single vote for granted, and it is a privilege to have the trust of my fellow Democrats again as I run for re-election to the United States Senate.
