With the Edmonton region leading the country in housing growth, clear and coordinated planning between municipalities is critical to maintaining momentum, reducing uncertainty, and supporting the delivery of new housing. We look forward to participating in the upcoming engagement process and contributing the perspective of the builders, developers, and industry professionals helping shape growth across the region. Our tour of Justin Gray Homes gave us a closer look at the craftsmanship and quality behind their work across the Edmonton region. Justin started as a Red Seal carpenter before launching Justin Gray Homes as an infill builder in 2015. Since then, the company has expanded into greenfield development, including its first Glenridding home in 2024, and now builds across the region with approximately 35 homes a year. Their team has also grown to 17 staff across Edmonton and Jasper, where they are currently part of the rebuild. Throughout the tour, we saw the small details that make a big difference, including larger windows, luxury finishes, cozy gas fireplaces and floorplans that give buyers choice without decision fatigue. For Justin Gray Homes, community doesn’t stop at the front door. Their BBQs and neighbourhood events help bring people together.

We were thrilled to visit Custom Built Dream Homes and spend time with owners Harpreet and Harman. Originally from Winnipeg, they made the move to Edmonton and launched their homebuilding business in 2010. Since then, they've built homes across the region, with a strong presence in Spruce Grove and Leduc. With a small but mighty team of four, every project reflects their commitment to quality and attention to detail. From premium finishes and thoughtfully designed spaces to spa-like bathrooms and fully finished basements with suite potential, their homes are designed with both comfort and functionality in mind. Today, we had the opportunity to tour one of their custom homes in Spruce Grove — and the craftsmanship speaks for itself. Just look at those finishes!

Infill = more housing choices. More housing choices make for stronger communities. When residents have more options, it also means that a neighbourhood has more opportunities for people to invest and settle down there. From garage suites to row homes and low-rise apartments, families, newcomers, seniors, and young professionals are all able to live in the areas they love. A deliberate effort from Edmonton’s city-builders to sweeten the community.🍦 BILD Edmonton Metro was pleased to host elected officials from across the country during the @FCM_online conference for a tour highlighting housing, local business, policy, and investment in action. The tour brought together planners, builders, developers and civic leaders to show how public and private sector collaboration helps create vibrant, walkable neighbourhoods where people want to live, gather, invest, and grow. @PaulLanni, President & CEO of @AvertonHomes, alongside Claire St. Aubin, Senior Planner with the City of Edmonton, spoke to infill housing, rezonings, density, the Brewery District, parking lot reconversions, and the phased approach required to build complete communities. At The Cobalt, Katie Schneider, Development Manager with Autograph Group, shared insights on 102 Avenue’s transformation and the integration of mixed-use residential and commercial spaces. The tour wrapped with David Mitton, CEO/Owner of Leston Holdings, who highlighted missing middle housing and the role of purpose-built rental in supporting Edmonton’s growth. Thank you to Mayor @AndrewKnack, our FCM guests, and all of our speakers for joining a thoughtful conversation on how public and private sector collaboration helps create places where people want to live, gather, invest, and grow. Great communities are built with more than homes, they are built with people, businesses, partnerships and a little local flavour.

BILD Edmonton Metro has submitted a position letter on the City’s Safe Mobility Strategy 2027–2030. Before advancing significant new investment commitments, we are recommending that Administration prepare a fully costed implementation strategy for Council review and public discussion. Key questions remain around: 📊 Cause vs. Correlation: Are safety trends being evaluated in the context of population and travel growth? 💰 Return on investment: Which previous interventions have delivered measurable safety improvements? ❄️ Lifecycle costs: How will capital, operations, maintenance and winter conditions be accounted for? 🏘️ Growth alignment: How will safety improvements be coordinated with growth-area planning, developer contributions and City infrastructure delivery? As part of @FCM_online and our Metro Main Streets tour, we hosted attendees for a Field Trip through St. Albert and Stony Plain, exploring how main streets across the region can support growth and complete communities. In St. Albert, Mayor Scott Olivieri and former Mayor Cathy Heron spoke about the importance of welcoming public spaces, housing integration, arts and culture and creating places where people feel a sense of belonging. In Stony Plain, Mayor William Choy shared insights on balancing heritage preservation with new development, downtown reinvestment, libraries and public spaces as third places and the role of public-private partnerships in supporting community growth. These conversations are exactly why BILD Edmonton Metro hosts Field Trips: to get city builders out from behind the desk and into the communities shaping our region.
